Airport Happy Hour

Are there any establishments that offer a Happy Hour? I have never seen it, but it would be nice to know when and where these occur if at all

I used to fly a US redeye out to CLT of SFO every Sunday night. There was a bar right by the gate that always had a drink special, usually involving a double shot. It was better than a sleeping pill.

The Proud Bird used to have a fantastic happy hour-you could really get full and tight on a small budget!

One cannot beat the prices and atmosphere at the airline clubs with free booze (ie DL, NW, CO etc). Personally I hate the usually overpriced, dirty and noisy airport bars.

I agree with you, but some airports have no clubs (or no clubs I can enter with my CRC membership card). And, some airport bars offer unique local microbrews. And if you go early enough, sometimes the bars aren't crowded or dirty yet. They're always expensive, hence the query about happy hours I suppose!

Even though we have to pay at UA clubs, $6 for a drink is a lot less than one would pay in an airport bar...or in public for that matter. And the surrounding air isn't laden with the aroma of fast food joints.

you think $6 is a lot? I was paying $6 for some loaded rum and cokes in Greenwich Village in Manhattan last time I was there.

You done good. My last time in Manhattan I was dinged $14 for a vodka martini and I believed the bartender was expecting the usual $5 tip (he got $2).

Although not a happy hour, Wine Country Gourmet in SFO usually has a tasting of very high caliber wines going.

Last time we flew into Portland, Oregon we stopped at a bar that had a great happy hour - you have to sit at the bar not in the restaurant but drinks were reduced and all the food was really cheap - under 3 dollars for things liker 1/2 lb burgers, crab cakes - it was amazing - maybe someone from the area will give you the name of the place.

Thumbs up Happy Hour means some complimentary snacks with your drink to me!

Happy Hour should mean something more like food, rather then just getting bombed on booze for lower prices!:-: :-: :-:

Happy Hour also has come to mean a Discounted Bar Menu and drinks at some of the best favorite local restaurants!
In fact, I enjoy some of the best dishes offered on the regular menu at the bar without the booze at reduced prices! ^
