I was about to create a bacon thread, but I figured that somebody here must have had the good intelligence to create one already. I'm glad to see I was right.

I had just gone with generic Bar-S bacon for most of my life until recently, until I bought some on a whim fresh from the butcher shop. Never again will I buy a prepackaged bacon!

I had always pan-friend my bacon. But a few weeks ago, somebody suggested the method that richard uses. Works like a charm. The bacon ends up less greasy, more evenly cooked, and doesn't curl as it cooks. A+++++++++, will use again!

Soft Bacons (Less Crispy)

Am I in the minority here as being someone who loves his bacon rather soft and not too crispy nor cruchy? Don't get me wrong, I do prefer some crisp into the cooked bacon but I would prefer them to be limited. I certainly do not like the ones that are as cruchy as those thin chips or crackers.

Nonetheless from bacon eaters I have spoken to, most seem to prefer extra extra extra crispy.

I do like my bacon to be a bit soft as well.

Medium rare, if you will.

I want my bacon soft, just barely cooked through. There's no better way for me to enjoy it.

I am a soft bacon eater, and am proud to admit it.
IF I wanted bacon cooked so crisp it crunched like hard candy, I'd order bacon bits.

I love bacon.

Prefer crispy over soft. Cooked in a oven or over a grill is better than frying it.

British round bacon is fantastic stuff.

Personal favorite is Hertel's Nitrate Free bacon, thick slice. Can't find it anywhere expect back home in Canada.

As much as the Chinese love pork, haven't found any local bacon that is tasty in China yet.

I prefer my bacon rather soft as well with crisp edges.

Ditto for me!

Crispier the better for me...bordering on almost burned.

Speaking of bacon... Costco recently stopped carrying their regular Kirkland hickory smoked bacon, replacing it with a low sodium version. It was a very good product and the price was amazing. It was pretty much the only bacon we have bought for ~18 years. So, in my quest to find a suitable alternative, yesterday I bought 8 different (mid to high end) brands. Let the bacon testing begin!

Anyone who is cool and suave knows that the Garden of Eden had no apple tree, but its design was focused on a large bacon bush...

Crisp!
Thick or thin (but thin is better with crisp toast broken into 4 minute eggs)
Pepper-cured (Black), closely followed by red pepper and jalapeno-cured (but I had some thick sliced chipotle-cured the other day which would knock your socks off).

Nirvana is a bacon and tomato sandwich with sharp Cheddar nestled beneath the bacon and spicy mustard slathered on the tomato (optimally served on well toasted whole wheat or multigrain bread).

Bacon was a personal favourite, but I avoid it nowadays as I'm on a pretty strict low calorie/protein diet. I wouldn't mind ham as a substitute for bacon though. Best thing you can have in the morning is a hearty big brekkie with bacon, scrambled eggs, baked beans and toast!

Any condiment other than Mayo on a BLT is a capital offense.

Just hours till my weekly BLT on multigrain at Saturday "breakfast" with the gang. Mmmmm...

Who said anything about lettuce? A BLT and a Bacon, Cheese and Tomato can't even be stabled together, much less compared. Mayo goes fine with rabbit food, leftover chicken and (to ward off starvation) tuna fish.
