I haven't had one in 15 years, but my favorite is still Teo's in Pittsfield, MA - where I'm from. It's a grilled natural casing mini-dog, I think from Tobin's out of the Tri-cities (Albany, Schenectady, Troy NY) served on a steamed bun with mustard, onions and chili sauce and wrapped two face to face in white paper.

I have to agree, Ted's in Buffalo is one of the best (Sahlen's hot dogs!) They also have a location in Tempe, AZ, FWIW
I swear, if I opened a restaurant in DC selling "Buffalo food", I'd be rich in no time. |

Thanks... |
Six pages and only one NJ mention. Sigh.... Give me a ripper any day. Only one I have been to that I thought was completely overrated was Windmill.

I would fly to a city to get a great hot dog. My only and best reason to do trade shows in McCormick in Chicago is to eat in that fine city. I'm in hot dog never, never land where I live. Hot dogs here are reserved for food for children. An adult orders one most places and you get looks!
I could use sure a Vienna dog in Chicago right now. |
Pinks in LA is good, but the wait is sometimes ridiculous. 711 is actually pretty decent. And a good Sabretts anywhere in NYC is never a bad thing.
|
Mustard's Last Stand in Denver and Boulder, CO is pretty good.

Never had one of these sober either... but man they are terrific. Personal choice for general toppings: Mayo and onions. I'm weird. |
