Perhaps this thread should be closed. It's at a point where posters are apparently not reading the thread, but just posting the same things over and over and over again.

Personally, I use CitySearch, chowhound, and zagats, in that order. Since they have already been mentioned in posts X, Y, and Z, however, I probably should find a new source. ;) :p

Of course, really, my first stop is usually at the front desk of the hotel where I try to describe to the desk clerk what I'm looking for and ask them where they personally would go. Lots of places have menu books behind the desk (particularly, I find, at mid-sized hotels without restaurants in small/midsize towns). In larger towns, I've heard the suggestion to ask your cabbie where he or she would want to go for the very best (describe what you are lookiing for) if time/money were no object if you want great suggestions from folks who hear it all.

So, a lot of restaurant information is going to be found in the destination forums, such as London, New York City, Paris, San Francisco, etc. Some of it will be in the Reviews forum. Some of it will be in the idine/Rewards Network forum. Some of it will be in this forum. And some of it will be in the Hotels forums. In other words, it is scattered all over FlyerTalk. Maybe someone could find a way to better organize it, or at least, put together and maintain a links sticky pointing to various places with this info?

It has been awhile since I've done one of my "post a restaurant and be entered into a SWU giveaway" contests but your post reminds me of why I don't bother anymore.

Please refer to the Organization of Dining Information — Assistance Requested thread for a response to these quotes, as well as the following quote:

Now let’s please return to the topic at hand, which is internet links for lists of restaurants in any given city in the United States.

Thank you.

Thanks, Canarsie, for offering to devise an organization scheme for dining. I don't bother with FT's dining forum because of that issue, despite my very, very deep interest in food-related travel.

Personally, I rely most heavily on Chowhound (which itself is disastrously hard to search, but with creativity it can be done). Some Chowhound boards are much more useful than others, but in general it is good.

There is also eGullet, which has its US dining forums located here.

You can also see a list of city-specific dining links in the Eat and Drink section of SauteWednesday (scroll down to the bottom of the page, and it's on the right).
