Auckland suggestions
 

We'll be in Auckland (staying in Northcote) 19-21 November. Looking for recommendation for a moderately priced dinner I probably couldn't find in the US.

Last time I was in Auckland the Planet Hollywood, of all places, had some interesting local dishes... in addition to the lineup of usual suspects.

Try Parnell Road in Parnell, there are a dozen restaurants to choose from, several quite good (the rest OK), so easy to find something that appeals. Auckland is not the best place to find what you are looking for (they think KFC is a great delicacy). Rural NZ does have some great, cheap and unique food but it isn't near Auckland.

There seem to be a number of residents who follow those fora. When I visited several years ago, I found a ton of good info in those.
