I've only been in one (SF) and really wasn't very impressed with the food, although some of the memorabilia was pretty cool.

Does anyone have any merchandise from the HRC in Jackson,TN?(closed)

In my experience, the menu in general (not at SF in particular) took a turn for the worse somewhere around 2000... around that time (shortly after, IIRC) the SF one moved from on Van Ness (which was walkable from where my then-girlfriend/now-wife lived) to the much more touristy location at Pier 39, and prices went up significantly.

I've only been back a couple of times since the move, although I do usually stop in once when I'm in a new city outside the US that has one.

I've only been to one: Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, Fla for my dad's b-day last January

He loved it, especially when the staff started dancing to YMCA on every table... it was fun.

I've been to Hard Rock at the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, NJ a bunch of times but never actually ate there so it doesn't count.

Just noticed that Sydney and Melbourne HRC closed in October..

Seems the owners of the space in Melbourne wanted it back and the lease was up, apprently they are looking to relocate possibly into Crown, Docklands or St Kilda Triangle.

Can't find any info on Sydney though, anyone have any ideas?

Its a shame as a group of my friends have a pre xmas tradition of going, unless we go to the Gold Coast we are SOL.

My favorite HRC is definately the one in Vegas. Atmosphere just electrifying.

That may be just around the time the owner/founder sold it and it went corporate? I believe he retained an interest in any HRC's that have gambling (and/or hotels?) associated wth them, but that's it.

Anyway, we've had one in our town since 1990, and in the last few years the food has become so bad we avoid it like the plague. And we're not the only ones: we've watched their business decline steadily over the years, from gangbusters to pitiful.

So it goes.

Hadn't the Sydney HRC been closed for a long time after a fire in recent years?

I agree that the heyday was over around 1990 if not before; what happened to all of the memorabilia? Recycled to the new openings in the Pacific and central Europe?

We also had some memorable birthday parties there, long ago, in Sydney. ;D

i remember in the early 80s when the Hard Rock tshirts/sweatshirts were all the rage. I thought I was so cool when my sister brought me one home from London. I wore that thing out.

the food at HRC, however, never stuck out in my mind as anything extra special.

Does *anyone* go there for the food? I go there for keepsakes of the cities I've visited. I'm not much of a souvenir person, but I like to pick up a pilsner glass from the HRC.

In PHX for the Freddies, and had a late lunch locally. DMX was having a few drinks at the bar.

Was very disappointed to find the Dallas HRC had closed before I finally got out there. Ho Hum. My list so far:

Los Angeles (at the Beverly Centre, now closed, I believe)
Chicago
New York
San Francisco
Tokyo
Sydney
Amsterdam
Madrid
Barcelona
Paris
Cologne (bought the tee with the German spelling :))
Roma (where they'd sold out of the standard tee in my size :mad:).

Not many really but I'm glad to say I've never had a bad meal at one.

(and to think, I only popped by to see if a superb eatery I'd found in Rome had been mentioned in these forums).

If you want to keep it that way, avoid the hamburgers at the Pattaya one :)

(Thailand has wonderful food in general, but I've just come to the conclusion that hamburgers are best avoided there; the best burgers I've had there have been mediocre, and I've had some truly awful ones.)

Ate at NYC on the way to the UK. Very nice restaurant. It's probably my #2 favorite.
