Don't think this has been posted, but the Los Angeles Cafe at the Beverly Center will be closing its doors on 12/31/06.

The Dallas Hard Rock Cafe will be closing on March 4, 2007. It will be relocating and opening at a later date.

On the contrary, after reading the people that also collect them, it just reiterates that notion ;)

Wow, you are indeed a collector. I have none. :o

tcook052 Feb 16, 2007 11:45 pm

My HRC T-shirt/shirt collection (includes now defunct locations):

Edmonton
Vancouver
Toronto Skydome
Houston
Las Vegas
Hollywood
Honolulu
San Diego
Washington, DC
New York
New Orleans
Kona
Cancun
Puerto Vallarta
Edinburgh
Berlin
Munich
Amsterdam
Madrid
Rome
London
Mykonos
Hong Kong
Tokyo
Kuala Lumpur
Sydney
Singapore
Cairo

My fave is a midnight blue Honolulu T with a fairly plain front but on the back a guitar surrounded with white flames and the "Pray For Surf" motto around the edge. ^

I see Bucharest is getting one in June, which is a few months before I arrive on my cheap NW tkt. ^ I'm also stopping for 8 hours in Houston, so will probably get into the Houston HRC and get another shirt rather than sit at the airport.

Rejuvenated Feb 16, 2007 11:53 pm

I'm sure you can dedicate an exclusive HRC wardrobe at home! :D

The funny thing is I haven't gone more than a few km's out of my way to get any of the HRC clothing as they've all been on my or my immediate family's holidays. And I'd rather have HRC than some generic touristy variety of T-shirt as a souvenir.

Very cool about Bucharest! Warsaw's just opened a few days ago, according to the web site.

timothyp_787 Feb 26, 2007 11:03 am

Wow, I'm a real amateur compared to you folks. I've only got a few:

Yokohama
Tokyo-Roppongi
Lisbon
Honolulu

I always get a pilsner glass.

It's funny; I lived in Atlanta for 7 years and it never dawned on me to go by there.

martinfoss Mar 25, 2007 5:55 pm

In order of first visit:

Copenhagen
Oslo (First time was under a week after the opening. Been there a lots of time since, as I live an hour away..)
Gothenburg
Stockholm
(That's actually all Hard Rocks in Scandinavia..)

Will hopefully add the following on my trip to the US this summer:

New York
Cleveland
Chicago
Hollywood (CA)

We were there about three years ago. It is a great HRC, and I regret not getting the city shirt while I was there; it was a neat design.

Was just their last week....

Its a really nice HRC, if in HI check out kona and maui 2

The Big Glasses @ HRC

I collect big glasses as a testament to my travels- not because I love the food. It is simply more economical to have one item from each locale, rather then shopping shopping shopping. Plus, it looks uniform when displayed AND you can use the glasses at parties- thats cool as long as dumb asses don't break them.

I collect glasses from where I've been- even if the cafe is closed. For instance, I've been to Aspen. I can't find that glass. I'm trying. When I head to Belfast, I'll look for that glass even though that cafe closed in 2004. Etc.

I guess I'm a typical when it comes to souvenir at HRC. I prefer the large glasses- not the shot glasses. As a result, my suitcase has become rather full as I roamed about Europe trying to collect them. Oddly enough, I found myself attending cities I had no interest in (Birmingham, England; Catania, Sicily, etc). Here's my current list:

Houston
Dallas
Austin
San Antonio
New Orleans (my first glass)
Memphis
Louisville
Nashville
Gatlinburg
Hollywood, FL
Biloxi
Destin
Tampa Bay
Baltimore
Washington D.C.
Orlando
Miami
New York
Boston
Indianapolis
Detroit
Cleveland
St. Louis
Phoenix
Chicago
La Jolla
San Diego
LA
Honolulu
Hollywood, CA
Cancun
Cozymel
Tijuana
Atlanta
Barcelona
Rome
Catania
Munich
London
Amsterdam
Kowloon
Madrid
Whistler
Kanata, Ontario
Birmingham, England
St.Thomas
Denver
Newport Beach
Nottingham, England

That's 49 total?

My wife is headed to Mexico City and Guadalajara this summer, to I'll get those two; my personal edict requires that I either attend personally or someone purchases it for me without my request. If that occurs, then I have to visit that cafe within a couple of years.

This winter I'm headed to China, so that'll be Beijing. My wife and I were planning on driving up to New England for Christmas...that would have been when I hit Toronto, and Niagra Falls US and Canada...but this opportunity came up for me to go to Beijing sooooooo..........

I still need to hit some of the obscure cafe's here in the U.S. like Minneapolis, Pittsburg, Foxrun, Atlantic City, Philadelphia, Myrtle Beach. I really want San Fran, Sacramento, Lake Tahoe, and Las Vegas. The hard one will be Key West, Cayman Islands, Jamaica and Bahamas. Maybe I'll take a cruise for three of them and do a weekend trip to Bahamas. It doesn't cost much to fly over from Miami.

My wife and I are planning a back packing trip to Ireland, France, Greece, and North Africa in '08. That'll give me Dublin, Manchester, Leeds, Paris, (and maybe a quick trip over to Berlin and Cologne via Ryan Air). I'll hit Athens, and then Cairo, Hurghada, and Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt. God knows whenever I'll make it to Scandanavia and get Oslo, Copenhangen, Gothenburg, and Stockholm.

I kick myself for not hitting Lisbon when in Spain, and obscure places like Cabo San Lucas, Alcapulco, and Puerto Vallerta will have to be hit on a pacific cruise. I don't know if a cruise visits all of those places.

Did anyone know they just opened Santa Domingo in the Caribbean? I'm not sure I'm headed all the way there for just a glass. That's a little obsessive *cough cough.

I'm looking for Ft. Lauderdale (been to the city, not to the cafe...closed in 2000). Recently Bristol in England closed. It was only a bar, but they had a glass. I kick myself for not attending it when I was in London.

Eventually...someday, I want to have been to every city HRC has had a presence in.

Don't get your hopes up ... :(

I won't comment on the restaurant food prices in Norway (and god forbid the beer prices...) as everything is expensive, but I had a burger at the HRC in Oslo a few weeks ago, and I won't go back :td:

If you want a burger, or similar type food, at an "American" style restuarant on Karl Johan in Oslo, I would pick TGIF.

redbeard911 May 16, 2007 9:06 pm

Added Washington, DC tonight. :)

IceTrojan May 16, 2007 9:22 pm

You know, back in high school, I decided to start the Hard Rock tee collection, which started in Honolulu.

After finding out each tee was $20, my collection stopped at one. :p

Double :( :( as I checked the HRC website and it seems they've pushed back the open date for Bucharest to "Fall 2007" from what had been a June open date. Was going to be one stop I had planned for my NW OTP run in Aug., but not now. :(

erila May 26, 2007 3:29 am

I've only been to three hard rock cafes so far, and one of those is in my home country of the UK. The others were LA and Copenhagen.

The one thing I love about the Hard Rock Cafe is that the staff always seem to enjoy their jobs, and they give better, more friendly service than most 'posh' restaurants I've been to.

I don't collect the T-Shirts, yet, as they seem so expensive, but I think I might start...

I didn't realise there was a HRC in Tokyo! I can't wait to go there now :)

That me reminds me of a visit to the Hard Rock in Oslo with my sister and a friend of hers: As you might know, there's free refill of soda, and sometimes they ask you if you want more, sometimes you gotta ask them, which is no big deal..However this one time, as I was about to finish my Pepsi (I always seem to drink up first..), the waitress suddenly appeared with three new glasses of soda without even asking us first.. That's what I would call great service. And before the meal was over, we got even another refill without asking.. I don't need to say that she got a few extra NOK as tips that day..

However, I did also experience once - again with my sister and a friend - that my sisters friend didn't get her hamburger. She asked the waiter, who apologized, and promised her a free ice-cream. When we got the bill, the ice cream was on it.. However, we didn't bother and paid for it anyway..

Added the Hard Rock in Amsterdam a month ago. Service a little slow, but great location. Very close to museum's and right next door to the casino.

redbeard911 Jun 5, 2007 4:08 pm

We walked by the San Antonio HRC last weekend. The timing didn't work out for some nachos or twisted mac. :(

BTW - Washington DC shirts are great!

redbeard911 Aug 17, 2007 10:43 pm

Added Las Vegas. I finally got the cool double dragon back design. The LV City shirt has a showgirl and dice on the back. Kinda cheesy...

nkedel Sep 9, 2007 10:42 am

Adding one more to my list...

Haven't been to one in forever except in Tijuana because I knew they would probably have a decent bathroom (they did).

-Updated again on June 12,2010 with more locations....
I updated with a few additional locations since my original post...

I just visited the fairly new HRC in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico over the weekend. The San Juan site is very nice and I would recommend it.

I'll try to list my other visits that come to mind:

- Manila (Makati City), Philippines
- Tokyo Roppongi
- Hong Kong
- Rome
- London
- Madrid
- Whistler (Now Closed)
- Aruba (Now Closed)
- Hollywood
- Santa Monica
- Grand Cayman Island - Now Closed (Open Again, as of Summer 2010!)
- Cancun
- Cozumel
- Dallas (Both Old and New locations)
- Houston
- New York (One of my first HRC visits, I blew $500 on a HRC New York Leather jacket when i was 21! :D
- Wash DC
- Baltimore
- Philadelphia
- St Louis
- Orlando Universal City Walk
- Miami
- Chicago
- Denver
- San Juan
- Las Vegas
- Toronto Sky Dome
- Toronto Yonge Street
- New Orleans
- Atlantic City
- San Francisco
- San Diego
- New Delhi, India, Saket City Mall
- Yankee Stadium, New York

I'll update as I remember more locations. I have my old shotglass collection in a closet somewhere that my wife won't let me "display". It looked great in my bachelor pad 10 years ago.

I now collect the costumed Huntington bears for my 4 year old. The Rome bear is in a gladiator costume. The London bear is in a Buckingham palace guard costume. Denver is in a snow-boarder costume. San Juan is a pirate. Etc.... Not all locations seem to have the costumed bears but I buy them when I see them. My son's favorite is the Panda bear from Hong Kong HRC.
