EXCELLENT place! I have been there multiple times. Not the best steak I have had but a very good steak. The atmosphere and service makes up for the difference between choice and prime steaks. IMO, the best steak in KC is Plaza III.

Anyone know of any Brazilian steak houses in the United States? The kind where they serve different kinds of meat at one setting. I miss those places.

Been to several in the country. The best, IMO, is "The Fire of Brazil" in Atlanta. Vegetable bar is great but stay away, save it for the meat on a spear!

For me, Del Frisco's.

There are plenty of them.

I was at one in Las Vegas and another one in the Atlanta area.

While they were good, I was not particularly impressed with either of them — and they are not inexpensive...

My favorite is Gaucho Rodizio near Fort Lauderdale. It has a nicer atmosphere, better food and lower prices than the touristy chains such as Porcao and Churrascaria Plataforma.

I will be departing for my favorite steakhouse in about 15 minutes: The Hitching Post in Casmalia, CA.

Looking forward to an artichoke appetizer to get me started.

In the top few in my experience, certainly.

However current #1 with a bullet is the Land of Magic Supper Club in Logan, Montana, visited for the first time last Thursday. Oh. My. God.

Bring yer truck and yer dawg.

Thanks for the tip, Gardyloo!

This is one of my favorite hobbies--visiting great steakhouses. Here are my favorites:

1.) Brooks Steakhouse, Denver (Tech Center)

2.) TIE: Metropolitan Grill, Seattle
and Manny's, Minneapolis

3.) TIE: Sullivan's, Indianapolis
and St. Elmo's, Indianapolis (more for the awesome shrimp cocktail than steak)

4.) Happenings, Santiago

5.) Cabana Las Lilas, Buenos Aires

6.) Gibson's (I like the one in the DoubleTree hotel by OHare better than the downtown location)

7.) The Palm, Las Vegas

How was it? In the past we loved the wines, the artichoke appetizer. The rest was not tops.

Had a couple meals there during my extened stay in the area. As usual, the artichokes were A1. I'm finding it more and more difficult to get a steak done the way I want it, however. It is really getting frustrating. The propensity of cooks to overcook steaks is one of my pet peeves... and something that is happening more and more often (yes, I know there is another thread on this very subject).

Both times at the Hitching Post (and in prior visits), my steak was overcooked. Very annoying. I like 'em medium rare, maybe even medium rare minus. If it's past medium rare, it may as well be well done in my book. I asked for medium rare and asked that they err on the side of rare and not to overcook it. You guessed it...

I used to LOVE the Hitching Post. Regrettably, they are starting to p*ss me off. We have started to use them less and less for client dinners. There are some other very good restaurants in the Buellton/Los Olivos/Santa Ynez area.
