Believe it or not, Gramercy Tavern is my favorite restaurant in NYC...and has been for eons. (The Lambs Club and its spectacular bar may be my second favorite.) It’s always excellent, interesting food combined with relaxed and almost fun service in a energized but not at all pretentious ambience.

Anyone eaten at Mume or Tairroir in Taipei? Both look great; I have dinner reservations at them for later in May. I'm waitlisted at Raw (a bit amazed that I made the reservation request literally at the earliest possible day and time, but they are "already full" for both dinner and lunch; c'est la vie).

I can’t speak to the others you mentioned, but YEN (on the top of the W Taipei) was excellent. Lastly - I don’t think any of these are starred, as Taiwan does not have its own Michelin guide. |

Hi, does anyone have any recommendations for starred restaurants in Chicago?
Had a fantastic meal at Acadia two years ago, and would like to go back. Any insight to places like Alinea, Sepia, Grace....? Other places? Thanks in advance :) |

If I couldn’t get Alinea, I’d aim for Acadia or Oriole to try something newer. Everest, though, is always wonderful IMO. And I hear amazing things now about Boka, with a former chef from EMP. Of the others mentioned in the half dozen or so posts preceding mine, the one that I thought was rather average is Sepia (been twice)...average when compared to others with stars at least. Also, if you're going to only one Paul Kahan restaurant, I'd pick Publican over Blackbird every time. Possibly the best oysters in Chicago. But I have not had a bad bite at any of his restaurants. |
Boka (1*, next to Alinea) is delicious and I believe it deserves 2 stars

Not to repeat myself, even if it’s heresy, but I was underwhelmed when I ate at Alinea 5 years ago. I was also underwhelmed by Grace, too...but I did love the slightly upscale casual spots in town.
