The supplement for the truffle is heavy, especially if you consider what it costs on the market in Europe. Otherwise the menu looks very nice, shame Ímmso rarely in this region.

Jua NYC
Tried Jua out, one star in NYC. In summary, I would go back again.
Service: Casual. My favorite dish was the jook, and added abalone to it. Simple but delicious. Everything was a delicious plate of food. Kalbi wagyu with side pairings. Final dessert was donut with ice cream. Liked it better than Oiji Mi. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...8c1608580.jpeg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...649ddeebd.jpeg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...bf2a7a973.jpeg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...768cdc851.jpeg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...0417a9067.jpeg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...512b526be.jpeg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...fb5648ae9.jpeg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...ccc32c01a.jpeg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...9aab9f038.jpeg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...ce5b55393.jpeg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...b264c2d04.jpeg |

Atomix NY
Was excited to try out Atomix, but their reservations are hard to come by. Even waiting at the second when they release, everything fills up within 1 minute and my reservation error out, indicating lots of bots at play.
I ended reserving a cocktail bar dinner when there was an opening left, but I really don’t get the hype of this place. Perhaps the main dinning is different, but the food was okay, but not something that I would want to travel to; on the other extreme, there are few restaurants that I look forward to try again, such as Trescind Studio Dubai. We ordered non alcoholic cocktails, and they were all really good. We added some alcoholic cocktails to try, and they were all tasty too! Friendly service, but the food was just okay. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...485a6668c.jpeg Steam bun: delicious, but just a bun. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...e2c262ef2.jpeg Cucumber with tofu and Korean spice. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...c53c04033.jpeg Nori roll with wagyu beef and chives. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...4c0b1b051.jpeg their version of crudo. Korea- Seoul: Vinho 1*
One Star, but I wouldn’t doubt they will get 3 stars over time….
One of the most exciting, creative, and flavorful places that we have tried in Seoul. It is up there to a place that I would fly to Seoul just to try out a new menu from them. Opened by a chef and Sommelier, Vinho delivers: friendly, impeccable service, and different well balanced tasty plates of food without any let downs…. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...c918fe754.jpeg Vinho https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...4c59ed673.jpeg Oyster ice cream: would not have thought this would be good, but it was amazing! https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...1e479c055.jpeg surf clam: the best mix of milky tiger broth , non seafoody seaweed, with citrus balance from tangerine. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...da08d1eb8.jpeg Jack Mackerel: well balanced Jack mackerel tartare with stir fry cabbage. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...65d048f8d.jpeg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...3e3e98697.jpeg Eggplant: shrimp inside with apple; excellent balance of texture and taste https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...a60f294bb.jpeg Quail: omg, stuffed morrel mushroom out of the world, stuffed onion with bitter mogwart: Broth was super well balanced and not too herbal. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...f64dab775.jpeg Tteokgalbi: really good meaty umami meatball; balanced with truffle. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...5c6950dfa.jpeg Spanish mackerel: Hay smoked, really good and rich. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...ccf8358c6.jpeg Lamb and duck https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...50de75047.jpeg Duck https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...a2c10e6ed.jpeg Festive rice with pork and duck. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...d821a42e0.jpeg Lamb https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...87810eeb8.jpeg Palate cleansing dessert. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...8b7e5189f.jpeg Excellent dessert to end the night. |
T'ang Court, Hong Kong
:star::star::star: Had a quick trip to Hong Kong and went to T'ang Court for a "casual" dim sum lunch to use up my property credits at the Langham. I was dining with elderly family members who aren't into tasting menus. So, I liked that a 3 star place could still offer traditional dim sum and Cantonese dishes, and all were nicely refined and elevated. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...53b0a62cf.jpeg |
A phenomenal meal at Maz (currently 2* but worth 3 in my view) in Tokyo. This was the best meal of our trip to Japan. A bold mix of Peruvian and Japanese with truly innovative and tasty dishes. Both the wine list and the non-alcoholic options are fabulous. Our Dutch waiter was the perfect blend of approachable, polite and knowledgeable. Highly recommended. I would rate this 97/100 (partly because the dining room is not particularly attractive).
A couple of datapoints: we had dinner at Sojiki Nakahigashi (2*), a traditional restaurant in Kyoto (we had a local friend make a reservaton for us), which was interesting for its wide variety of mountain herbs, but overall somewhat disappointing. I would rate it 91/100. We also had a traditional kaiseki meal at Asaba ryokan, served in our room of course. This was very good and in some ways better than Sojiki (91/100). Photos below from Maz. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...8b8326e1ad.jpg The white and blue in the bowl was an edible concoction you mix in with the other ingredients. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...2dd06df925.jpg Turtle (farmed). https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...ac483128db.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...c749c248e1.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...484a4b2f75.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...777d5bcb0a.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...9f26231ae1.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...0a7e6ac0a8.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...0ac3b42899.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...ad924ca1aa.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...e63b98dd95.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...d14d028313.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...990fd5cef0.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...c6a7ea6fe9.jpg |
