Pumpkin Spice: Love It, Hate It, Or?
 

Count me 112% in the haters camp

No strong opinion.

I love pumpkin pie but am trying to hold out until October before enjoying this year.

I can't get too excited about other pumpkin products.

So overblown (kind of like my co-workers obsessing with Yuengling beer now that it's in Kansas....). I do enjoy pumpkin bread, on occasion, but don't get the obsession with everything pumpkin spice.

I despise pumpkin in any form, and therefore everything that goes along with it.

Best I've seen is pumpkin spice cat litter.

Pies, bread and pastries for pumpkin spice. No to pumpkin spice drinks.

I don’t eat sweets and I don’t eat dairy. I can’t imagine anything outside those categories that would taste better with pumpkin pie spice. Including kitty litter.

Pumpkin beer?

All of you haters better stay away from Trader Joe for a few months....there is very little in there that isn't pumpkin spice.

how about pumpkin curry? Yum.

I was tired of it after my first or second one years ago. I see it’s still a thing, but 10 years ago, you could have gotten a 4 beer pumpkin ale flight no problem. I don’t see that many on the store shelves today unless I go to Total Wine.

Ok, you just reminded me. My Haitian neighbor made us a pumpkin based oxtail soup last year when we had COVID. It was delicious.

Do soup or curry have traditional pumpkin spice (cinnamon, nutmeg, clove) or is the pumpkin just used as a regular squash?

Oh dear, I have to pull up a 15 month old memory. Certainly not the whole mixture, but perhaps one of them. I’ll ask her the next time I see her. Any of her cooking that I have tasted has been well seasoned. Nothing bland about Haitian food in my experience.

It has nothing to do with bland. There are many things that can be made with pumpkin but not all fit the title of the thread. Plus there are many things that have the traditional pumpkin spice mix but contain no pumpkin.
