The first thing I do when entering a new persons house is rush to the kitchen to see if the people have a "cool" toaster.:D

Forget that Porsche in the driveway, it’s all about the cool toaster. 😎

I recall an old Peanuts cartoon. Linus was doodling on a piece of paper and announced he was going to sell cattle. He explained to Charlie Brown something like:

"It's great. I only have to sell two or three at $500,000 apiece, and I'll be set for life!"

My dad still uses his Dualit purchased 35+ years ago. Never had a problem with it. Works great.

My Mom still has the same toaster oven that she got when I was in high school and living there. I can guarantee that it cost far less than $200, and still works the same today that it did back then.

I just noticed that Target has a Hamilton Beach toaster on sale for $19.99. Even if it broke every year and had to be replaced it would still make more sense than spending $240 on a toaster.

Did your father buy it to look "cool"? :D

I had a $20 Black & Decker toaster oven from 1993 through 2014 and it worked great. Finally bit the dust and I got a reconditioned Cuisinart toaster oven (it has a convection setting which is great). I think it was maybe $100 and it’s been fantastic. I use it constantly, not just for toast but also lots of things that I don’t need the big oven for.

I have a commercial stove with a griddle. Once it’s hot, I can toast an entire loaf of bread in less than a minute.

I used to have one I got using my Amex points many years ago (perhaps 20?)
Very sturdy toaster which will last a lifetime as you can replace the elements.
I got rid of it a few years ago when we left the UK as we downsized. It is rather large so takes up a lot of counter space.

Have a smeg toaster now, just as expensive, but just doesn't toast as fast as the dualit.
Would've happily bought another dualit if they only sold them here in Singapore...

A toaster isn't just an appliance, it's an appliance that need to be approved by SWMBO :p

Big deal. Normal toasters are cheap. I just got one for my niece that she asked for....on Amazon for $29.99 with 5 star reviews and she loves it. She can buy 10 more for the price of one Dualit. I know my parents had some inexpensive toaster for about 20 years...we used to make fun of them because it was retro looking. It never broke.

Whatever floats your boat.

I have a four-slice Dualit. It works very well but the timer needs to be replaced soon.

I think that someone who couldn’t even find a toaster oven in the UK, to gripe about expensive toasters is a bit rich.

Buy what you like. I don’t see the value proposition in a $250 toaster. I bought a $25-30 toaster at Costco quite a few years ago, and it still works great. It works nicely on bagels, and toast.

Part of owning a Dualit is the cachet.

again, your persistence in searching my old posts are funny and to be honest flattering.
