Big state. That would be about an 8 hour drive. Anything in the Panhandle? And it has to be in a split top hot dog bun. I can't even find those around here if I felt like making my own.

Please do tell as I have not seen any here in S. FLA. The problem may be that I don't frequent the restaurants along the Intracoastal much living out west.

I had a friend in college who told the same story. She said she ate lobster for breakfast way too many mornings when that's all there was in the refrigerator.

RE: a previous post - I wonder how many lobster rolls you could sell in an Amsterdam coffee shop?

I'm sure that if one would open up a new hipster-like foodie lobster roll place in Amsterdam you would be able to make lots of money.

We do have lobster in europe, but it's regarded as an expensive food. I am also not sure if it's the same type of lobster as in America.

There are at least 2 types here. The true lobster is found in northern waters. The spiny lobster is what we find here in the Gulf of Mexico. Both are edible but the spiny lobster lacks claws. And claw meat, tenderer than that found in the tail, is my favorite part of the bug.

Coincidently we are celebrating lobster fest here sometime this month, possibly this weekend. I plan to drop by looking for a lobster roll. I just might get lucky.

I suspect that I speak for a lot of Midwesterners when I say that lobster rolls are so rare here, and so costly when they are briefly available, that I will take them with butter, with mayo, toasted/warm bun, not toasted/warm bun, with celery if necessary, whatever way I can!
