Woo.

So that's understandable; otherwise, without the extenuating
circumstance, not..

I like them both ways, lightly dressed with mayo and maybe green onion (no cellery, lettcue, etc). Or drizzled with butter but I find I need a little more salt when it's with butter.

Absolutely necessary for me is the New England style hot dog bun, buttered and grilled. Having a french roll type bun ruins it for me.

Went back to my local pub for another lobster roll yesterday for lunch. They now serve two, on hotdog buns grilled in butter (formerly a hard hoagie roll), but the lobster now is in (scant) mayo rather than butter.

Preferred it the old way. Still tasty, though.

The Admirals Club at BOS has pretty good lobster rolls for the price they charge. I think it's $16. Only Admirals Club in the world that serves it (this is the LAA club, not the LUS club). Definitely not the best one, as I've had better ones, but for the price and setting, it's definitely worth it. Heck, I'd even guest in a stranger if they wanted to buy a lobster roll at that club :D

Butter and grill a split-top hot dog roll. Spread a little (not too much) mayo on the inside and stuff in as much cold lobster (not warm or room temperature) as you can. Eat at least 2. No sides.

I prefer to make my own since most places use too much mayo and add celery for some unknown reason. I've had a few decent ones throughout Atlantic Canada and New England. Red's Eats in Wiscasset, ME was probably the best. Kelly's Roast Beef in Revere Beach (Boston) was decent (although a bit overpriced at $21) but the gazebo seating right on the beach made it worthwhile. Surprisingly, the McLobster (available at McDonalds in Atlantic Canada and New England) actually isn't half bad for about $8, although they do use celery.

Muscongus Bay Lobster in Round Pond ME. The local general store ain't bad, either.

C'mon over.

I don't see them in Florida either but I know where to find them if I visit my roots in New England.

You just need to know where to find one. :)

Sadly they aren't in Amsterdam yet :(

Though I may go to London some time

I guess we take lobster for granted here in Atlantic Canada (even McDonald's sells lobster rolls!). Still, I'd consider trading lobster for life in Amsterdam!

I am sure that Amsterdam is great for a tourist vacation but it's really not the best place to actually live.

But That's a bit off topic so back to the lobster rolls.

My grandfather was a lobster fisherman and my mother tells us that they were "so poor that they had to eat lobster". They were actually embarrassed to take lobster in their school lunches and were jealous of the kids who had bread and molasses! How times have changed...

I had a friend in college who told the same story. She said she ate lobster for breakfast way too many mornings when that's all there was in the refrigerator.

RE: a previous post - I wonder how many lobster rolls you could sell in an Amsterdam coffee shop?

Not sure where you are in Florida, but Fort Lauderdale has plenty of places that serve lobster rolls.
