If you have leftover pizza, you're not doing it right.

I mentioned the thread I was reading to Mr. Fwoomp, who said, "Oh, like heating it on the hot plate of the coffee maker?"

So there's another one for you.

Personally, I'm not averse to cold pizza, either, but some toppings really do make reheating preferable, IMO. (Fresh tomato, artichoke hearts, and/or bacon, if you're curious.)

I think you mean Little Caesar's. Papa John's is a step above that, IMO.

This is actually REALLY intriguing to me...with the right iron setting, this should totally work if the pizza's wrapped well in foil! ^ (I very rarely end up with leftover pizza and a bunch of foil in my hotel room, but if I ever do, I'm definitely doing this!)

You could even try the same if the hotel room is equipped with a kettle or even a coffee maker that can be used to heat water for tea, and similarly if you travel with an immersion water heating coil.

This is also intriguing...but more in a kinda scary way. Not sure I've ever heard the term "sous vide pizza" before - and I'm pretty sure there's a good reason for that.

Cold Pizza is one of my favorite breakfast options.

I think you mean Little Caesars. Papa John's doesn't have any pizza at $5! And Hot-n-Ready is Little Caesars. I know because I spent many $5 there.. LOL

Hah! You're right!

I think I must have been flashing back to college days when the local Papa Johns had two pizzas for $5.

Me too.

I've never understood the cooking on the iron thing. I assume you have to lie the iron down on its handle with the ironing surface uppermost but that sounds a bit dangerous - how do you stop it falling over?

There was a Mythbusters episode you can use for reference, and cooking/reheating with a car engine has also come up on Car Talk.

(OK, admittedly this is outside your hotel room, but so is the lobby microwave. )

I looked it up. Use two towels. Roll them up, on on each side of the iron, to make a prop for it.

We had a local pizza joint in college who sold $2 16-inch pizzas (VP Pie). They tasted about like you would expect... I suppose when you'd spent all your money on booze, they were acceptable.

The ones I used to get were pretty good, but 12-14 inches I think. Dinner for two nights for $5 was pretty good, even in those days, and they heated up pretty well in the oven. And those days we used to have 99 cent pitchers on certain days at certain places.

How long has it been since you were in college?

IMHO the only sensible comment in the thread. Why kill yourself by eating junk?
