May I ask, regarding the beer suitcase transportation, does your friend prefer any particular bottle container?
ETA: That was quick! He uses a Wine Check. |

May I ask, regarding the beer suitcase transportation, does your friend prefer any particular bottle container? I hate to hijack the thread, but I was recently looking on Amazon and there was a large number of candidates:
http://www.uhaul.com/MovingSupplies/...g-Kits?mid=169 I have checked expensive beers from Europe and shipped many beers in the US and never a problem. |
I was thinking about starting a new thread to offer (and solicit) recommendations for great Craft Beer Bars, but I decided to try to resurrect this 2014 thread instead.
Since this thread was last updated, Untappd Verified Venues has become a great resource in this area, where it is often possible to check current tap-lists in close to real-time. This, in turn, seems to have spurred many bars to publish and maintain their own current tap-lists on their websites (presumably, because they are unwilling to pay Untappd to do it for them) I am based in the UK, but travel weekly to Scandinavia, so I am typically bouncing through one or two of the larger Cities in Sweden/Denmark/Norway/Finland each week. I can highly recommend the following bars, for a great selection of craft beers: Copenhagen The Taphouse - 61 beertaps, mainly from Scandinavia, but with regular beers from across Western Europe http://taphouse.dk/ Warpigs - Joint-venture brewhouse between Mikkeller and 3Floyds, which 24 taps plus very good BBQ food http://mikkeller.dk/location/warpigs/ Fermentoren - cozy basement pub with 20 taps, mainly from Scandi and UK craft breweries http://fermentoren.com/ Gothenburg Brewers Beer Bar - modern pub with 16 taps, mainly local, with an excellent pizza menu to complement them! https://brewersbeerbar.se/beers-wines/ Brewdog - chain pub with 18 taps, typically 10 house beers + 7/8 interesting guest beers. Also often have some excellent rare cans in the fridge. Serves decent pub food. https://www.brewdog.com/bars/worldwide/goteborg The Rover - large, welcoming pub, with 20 taps mainly local. http://www.therover.se/ Oslo Røør - Large pub with 70 taps from across Western Europe, plus several shuffleboard tables. https://www.roor.no/ Crowbar - Very cool brewpub, with 18 taps including several guest beers http://crowbryggeri.com/the-bar/ Stockholm Omnipollos Hatt - Cool, but tiny pub, with 10 taps and a wood-fired pizza oven in the corner. http://www.omnipolloshatt.com/ Mikkeller Bar - Very stylish basement bar with 24 taps, combining Mikkeller beers with interesting guests http://mikkeller.dk/location/mikkeller-stockholm/ Where do you recommend.....?! |
Couple places here in Phoenix:
-OHSO has a great local beer selection, about half of which are brewed in house. There's a new location in T2 (UA, AS) at PHX, but I think the full restaurant in Arcadia (about a 10-15 minute drive north of PHX) is much better if you have the time. -Arizona Wilderness Brewing Company in Gilbert also has a selection of great beers brewed in house. |
For anyone in Central Virginia area around Richmond/Fredericksburg Capital Ale House is a decent option.
Most of their locations have at least 50 different draughts that they rotate regularly and with hundreds more in bottles too. I used to live very close to one that had a great happy hour where you could get gold like Dogfish Head 90min IPA for $3. I stay by one of their locations on work trips to the Richmond area now. http://capitalalehouse.com/menu-bar/innsbrook-menu/ |
University of Beer, Davis, CA. 60 on tap. Davis was where I encountered my first beer menu, at a pub near the university. It contained over 300 different beers. My life was never the same again.
