I like Bundy, but honestly it's not good enough to drink straight (unless I'm desperate) (:

I just saw a promo at IST duty free for Ron Zacapa Sistema Solera Gran Reserva 23 so I made an impulse buy. 175 Lira didn't seem too bad a price. And the great taste makes it worth it. ^

Flor de Cana is my rum of choice. Decent value, in my book.
But, I admit that I am not a rum-sipper. Pretty much strictly for mixing. |

I went on a bit of a rum spree while on a Caribbean cruise recently and was totally blown away by white agricole. It is RIDICULOUS. I don't think you'd ever have heard of it unless you've been to Grenada but Rivers is amazing. http://rumconnection.com/river-antoine/

For some reason just about everybody (me included) likes the FDC 12 better than the 18. They're all pretty good though.
Maybe I'm just weird, though - always a possibility. |

Pyrat XO reserve. Just open the bottle and the aroma of the oak aging rum will capture your nose.
Pyrat 1623 is supposed to be even better ( and 10 times more expensive). It's on my wish list , along with Macallan 25. |
Havana Club Anejo when I can get it, although I think now it's a nostalgia thing. Zacapa 23 is amazing, but I just got a bottle of Haitian that was recommended to me by a cruise ship bartender: Barbancourt 15 year, that is every bit as good, if not better, for sipping, and 1/2 the price!
Flor de Cana 7 for everyday mixing. And agreed...a well aged rum is every bit the experience of a scotch whisky. |
Havana Club 7 with coke or Havana Club Barrel proof on its own :D
|
B13 for me. Not sure if it is available in the US though.

On a recent trip to Puerto Rico, I tried a rum called Trigo Reserva Aneja. I will admit (and my trip report confirm) that it wasn't my first tipple of the evening, but I recall it being very delicious and distinctive. Cheers!
