OP, we are living a life dictated by "norms set up by someone once upon a time world". Heck if you love it, eat it ! If your kids pick it up and do it on Scout camps, maybe it will spread.

Sounds like something you'd feed to fussy kids, or Ned Flanders.
(I'll just have a piece of white bread, maybe with a glass of water on the side for dippin'!) |

It's a southern thing. My mother and her siblings, who grew up during the depression, had a variation on it - broken up pieces of cornbread with milk, in an tall iced tea glass. Don't know if it was regular milk or buttermilk. Never stayed around to find out - ran from the dining room making gagging noises.

I don’t like crackers and milk, however my 5 year old daughter LOVES it! It’s like a treat to her. |
My 10 year old daughter dunks everything in milk.

My grandmother would serve me saltines in milk before bed when I was a child. She would also sometimes give me a banana sliced up in orange juice. Both flavor profiles are guaranteed to transport me back to childhood.

But it is something my grandfather used to have all the time, my father enjoys, I enjoy, my mother isn't crazy about it but the idea isn't foreign to her. I am talking simple saltines in milk. Especially when they get all nice and mushy.
