Those wouldn't be soft drinks, but drinks from around the world nonetheless! Now, Japan does have a fizzy soy drink...

actually most anything not liquor falls into the 'soft drink' category :)

The invite to the plant was from a local prominent person, which is always important in China. The guards did not want to allow us in until he said we were with him. However I've done pretty well just by asking too, it never hurts to ask!

Last month I did a tour of a flight kitchen in Beijing. Very nice, was treated like royalty even with a personal greeting by their staff when I got there.

(with thanks to United for coordinating those arrangements)

Also no, didn't see Ordos advertising at all, but did meet some people in the area that were/are geologist and consulting for a lot of the mining operations.

Just bought a bottle of Coca-Cola Orange.

It tastes like Orange Fanta mixed with Coke and without the fizz.

I personally don't like it.

My wife says it tastes like a sweeter version of flat coke.

I can't see myself buying another bottle.

The new thing in the U.S. is Coca Cola Freestyle. I've seen them in Five Guys, Noodles and Company, ICON theatres and other places. Create your own.

No doubt Pepsi is scrambling. Maybe there will be some flavor combo with Diet Pepsi that won't be putrid. Unlikely. :)

When I was in Japan, I realized I liked Pocari Sweat (sort of a fizzy Gatorade-ish thing).

Orangina is one of my all time favorite sodas. The Pellegrino equivalents are really good too, though I hate the super bitter one...I don't know if they even make it anymore. It's not on their website and I can't remember what it was called. It sort of tasted like Campari.

They even have one at the ATL A17 Skyclub. I'm always happy when I find one, mmm Raspberry Coke Zero.

Pocari Sweat is great, despite the unappetizing name. According to my Korean friend, it prevents hangovers too.

My Northern California relatives (in the wine business) claim, it's equal parts gin and vodka, blended with ice milk (I guess now it would be referred to as low fat ice cream) that cures the hangover.

Yup ;)

Have seen those fancy devices in Five Guys- guess I'll need to try one sometime :o

I tried the Mr. Q Cumber soda from these folks, and I wouldn't crave it again. Their other flavors, I'd try all at least once.

My kid asked for Fanta Limon for Christmas. I couldn't find any for less than a crazy shipping charge.

There was a poutine flavoured Jones soda for a limited time in Canada.

Never tried it and I'm glad I didn't. It sounds absolutely disgusting.

Also, Jarritos Mexican soda is one of my favourite sodas. Especially the mango and guava ones. :)

They sell it here in Seattle. Tried some recently for the first time, and it wasn't as ... earthy as I'd expected.

My favourite soft drink is unfortunately only marketed in Asia and is either very expensive or unobtainable in Sydney.

There's a store in Calgary that theoretically carries it, the Edelweiss Village. I was there in January - sold out. Same in May. :-(

Squid Ink Soda

I think we need a thread refresh for this. Resurrecting a nine year old thread just doesn't seem right.

Does it really matter? Diet Coke (Coca Light in some places) was the best then and is the best now! ;)

Couldn't disagree more. Grass Jelly is the best (although it needs some fizziness)

https://www.saveonfoods.com/sm/picku...04710095937018

Personally I buy the grass jelly whole and then make up my own drink using my sodastream...

That or if I'm feeling like a kid, Ribena carbonated.

Fun thread. I recently had a Mexican Squirt. We still love Jarritos.

Canarsie May 27, 2024 10:27 am

This Coca-Cola in Mexico is made not with pure sugar; but with what seems to be a mix of high fructose corn syrup and sugar.
