Favorite Rum for Mojitos?
Hi!
Ive been into Mojitos lately and was just curious what your favorite Rum was for this concoction. Recently mixed in Havana Club Blanco (Cuban not PR) that the fiancee brought back from Italy. Very tasty :D thanks - dan |
10 Cane Rum....is very delicious!

cool! Never tried the 10 Cane.
Anyone try Mount Gay? Supposedly one of the oldest Rum Distilleries in the world |

Captain Morgan Overproof is also quite good, but hard to find (and a lot better than the regular Captain Morgan rum which is everywhere). But for a mojito it is no contest, Havana Club is the best, just restricted to outside the US for real Cuban rum.

I want to serve Mojitos at my wedding, wanting to stay away from Bacardi but also be price conscience. Ill try all the ones mentioned. Let me know if there are any more recommendations. Thanks ^ |

It's all about the Ron el Barrilito. Not always easy to find in the States but definitely worth the effort.

Since mojitos are supposed to be a light, refreshing mint drink, I like to stick with a good white rum when I make them. Mount Gay definitely works. I find dark rums or spiced rums make the drink too heavy and drown out the mint flavor.

Havana Club
Without a doubt it is Havana Club ^

Being born and raised in Puerto Rico
I feel that I can provide some good input to this topic. First and foremost, Bacardi IS NOT that great. It has a strong marketing campaign, but it is not great. Most Puertoricans prefer Don Q, by the Seralles family. Another good rum mentioned in a previous thread in Ron Del Barrilito, but get the 3 star, it is a bit smoother. Another popular PR rum is Palo Viejo, but you will not find it outside of PR.
