Peppered bacon !

This stuff is amazing. I had it on a BLT at Fire & Oak restaurant in Jersey City, NJ. Blows regular bacon away!

Any recommendations, from those who enjoy this culinary treat, where to buy it? My local Whole Foods as well as independent butcher don't carry it :( I noticed Cabela's sells it online - is this a viable way to purchase bacon?

I couldn't spot the weight on that page. I usually pay $2.50 for 12 oz of regular bacon. I'm guessing Cabelas is charging $3.33 a pound. Viable? Yes. Reasonable? I say no. Surely it's available in a local grocery or specialty store.

(I now see it's 4 pounds, so $12.50 a pound. And that's before shipping. Pretty expensive in my book.)

bacn.com has it for around $7 a pound. Keep looking. If you find it for $5 a pound, buy.

My local IGA supermarket has at least 3 different brands. I was glancing at it today. Priced from $4 -7 for 12 oz.

If your pig has flown, yet you desire pepper on flesh, then I highly recommend a seasoning which includes pepper, on lamb.

A lovely, lingering treat for your tastebuds, especially if you are in Australia or NZ, where we all adore a little lamb - on the plate! :p

All the stores around here carry peppered bacon...

Peppered Bacon is far superior to regular bacon, I'd definately agree with that. Had it for part of my meal at a friend's home in Vaughan the other day and the quality just isn't the same as regular bacon.

Somebody has to ask - what is peppered bacon? Is it bacon with black pepper? Or something different?

I believe Costco has peppered bacon

I think that's the extent of it. The bacon I had in the restaurant was a thick, slab style bacon. Somehow seasoning it with pepper takes it to a whole 'nother dimension - not sure how though :)

It's interesting how some other posters note finding it in the supermarkets. Perhaps it's a regional thing? (e.g. pork roll in the northeast)?

I only buy peppered bacon... and I do love my bacon.

I have no problem finding it in our local Shaws and Stop 'n Shop stores.

I have a Stop N Shop right in town (northern NJ). Do you find it alongside the regular bacon or is it in a different spot? Thanks!

Hmm. I like bacon. Well OK ... I love bacon. But adding anything to it seems ... well, wrong somehow.

But if you guys all say it's good I'll give it a try sometime if I can find it.

I hear you. By way of background I just happened to order the BLT and had no idea what kind of bacon was on it. I found it to be so darn tasty that I asked the server who clued me in on the whole peppered bacon thing.

I don't think you'll be disappointed. ^

That reminds me of peppered beef jerky. I bet it wicked good.

I'm not a huge bacon fan, but I swear I see it at the grocery store all the time. I wasn't aware it was hard to get in some parts of the country!
