Use Delta SWU on skyteam partner

I couldn't quite find the answer to this. Can you use a Delta SWU on a full Y fare Skyteam partner?

It depends on the partner: yes for AF and KLM. (DL has a joint venture with these carriers.) No otherwise.

However, you can use DL miles to upgrade from full Y to business class on almost all Sky Team members. It's called a SkyTeam upgrade and the full Y requirement makes it expensive.

If you have full Y options between AF and KL, be sure to choose KL. AF only gives a one-cabin upgrade, so you want to be booking premium economy (Premium Voyageur) to use the SWU to go to business.

I've heard they are working on expanding this functionality to AZ for flights to FCO as well, but only in certain markets like LAX and BOS. For now, those flights require you to purchase full Y.

One should note that SWUs can be used on AF and KLM fare classes other than full Y, but generally they are still expensive.
