DL Shuttle - Increase in E75 Departures
Up to half of DL Shuttle departures will be served by the E75 on any given day starting in January. Ugh.
 |
What's the problem with this? With the elimination of the single-class MD-88, the E-175 actually offers larger seats and faster boarding/deplaning.

Do the DL 175's have a First Class cabin like NW?
Makes sense too, I've never been on a midday Shuttle that's been all that full. |
Looks like this affects LGA-DCA, and not LGA-BOS.

Give me the E75 any day... best aircraft going right now.

Bigger Issue- Shuttle America?
Does Delta even fly E75s? I thought only Shuttle America did.
Does this mean Delta outsourcing the "Delta Shuttle" to Shuttle America? I fly the Delta Shuttle fairly often, but sometimes flyout of JFK to BOS because of ticket cost. Today i paid 150 bucks instead of 400 for the LGA flight. Its really not the same level of service. Isn't shuttle america who delta was trying to cut for breach on contract for being late something like 80% of the time? |

I'm a regular on the DCA shuttle and will have no complaints if they put me on a 175. They are very good, very comfortable airplanes and if they have the NY shuttle crews, so much the better. However, the Republic seniors who work those flights are also very good so I doubt if there would be any perceptible fall-off of service.

Missing my point..
The Delta shuttle is operated by delta.
Does delta operate any E75's? As far as I can tell, It's not currently a plane they own. So my question: is the shuttle switching to a delta connection? If it is, I don't think you won't see the same FA's. UPDATE: Okay I just looked myself, the flights will be operated by Shuttle America. and thank you mersk862, I was mistaken. Regarless, they both leave from Gates 23-25, which has to be the worst gate (for on an on time departure) in the history of aviation. |
Freedom was atrocious. Comair has taken over those DCA-JFK departures - a world of difference.

No middle seats!
The MD 88 has 1 middle seats per row, and the Boeings have two middle seats per row. The Boeings are based on a 1950's design. The MD -88 are based on a 1960's design. 175s are the peak of seat width comfort. The decline has started with the Boeing 787, which will have 9 across in coach in a plane that is 16 inches more narrow than the 777 that has 9 across. |
I get the point about E75s being newish and much more comfortable. However, it is still an RJ, and I loved all the space in the MD-88s. The chances of no seatmate are greatly diminished.
