Nostalgia is great
but I'm old enough to remember what I paid for those L-1011's and the meal choices and the 1/2 full planes. Yeah, it was great. But yeah, it cost an arm and a leg too. There weren't any free upgrades until near the end of that period either.
I, for one, am happy with the balance right now between price and service provided. |

I have first hand experience as an FO last September on a B fare getting bumped to the top of the list. Not sure if this has changed.
An FO booked in B will now always be ranked lower than ALL PMs and ALL GMs. The upgrade priority for B and M fares officially changed at the same time that they lost the benefit of time of ticketing upgrades. A.J. |

What are you willing to pay for this service? The same prices that landed DL in Chapter 11 or a fare at which they can provoide those things AND make a profit?

Well, I paid $1500 last flight. DL or AA on the same route. One gives me meal service with choices, silverware, plates, etc. The other gives me whatever they have in the cupboard and some plastic. One airline provides that service on two legs, while the "new and improved" airline wanted me to pay the same amount of money and sit on a 50-seater for 750 miles with no service except a bottled water. D E L T A still isn't willing to compete, so when I have a choice I go elsewhere.

(1) Bonus MQM and miles. If I pay $330 for a one way LGA-BOS Y fare, I should get more then 750mqm. It took me months of traveling this route several times a week to qualify for FO. If I spent the equivalent $ on transcontinental, or even travel to the midwest I would have been a PM.
But, I also realize the international fares are their bread and butter. |
I fly Bru to East Coast in Y a few times a year.
I have seen a big improvement. Eye shades, ear plugs, moisturising cream, free drink with the meal, mid flight snack(ice cream) and reconditioned cleaner airplanes. Big difference. |

I'm assuming you've never flown into Tampa. I'm biased since that's my home airport...but they have the best baggage handlers world-wide...and that's a strong statement that I stand behind. Short of a lightning storm (when TPA ceases ramp operations) you will rarely have to wait more than a few minutes for your bag --- if it's not already waiting for you. |
Delta First class stinks
new Delta, old delta I would pay for first any day on CO or NW, but how can Delta offer such a bad product. If im paying for first class, ill fly spirit.
Delta First No Glassware No change in food....ever No food unless your flight is over 4 hours and even then you may not get anything Seats have crappy leather covers and minimal cusioning. Very uncomfortable |
