How are upgrades going?

Now that were almost done with Q1, I thought maybe some of you would like to opine on how upgrades are going again.

Personally, I’m pretty happy:

100% as a gold. I have only been on 3 no- RJ, all Y or paid F flights, but all were T fares on fairly peek time and one was even a dreaded 732. For that one, I was the only non paid or Platinum in F, don’t know how my T fare beat out a few gold’s I saw on there way to Y ;) . One was at six days out ^, one at the normal window and one about 24 hours out.

I'm doing pretty bad. Not counting Y fares that cleared last year (4 for 4 on those) I am 11 for 20 or just 55%. As a PM who had 142K MQM last year, I am waiting for those "additional benefits" that OSH has been touting. True, these are all Mon am Thu night flights, but it still rankles me to be in coach on Mon am flight from Orlando while tourists fill up the front.

In addition, I am 0 for 9 on the gate lottery.

As a PM with more than 250,000 MQM last year, I also have not had great luck. I think that my problem is flying into and out of south Florida airports on Thursday and Friday afternoons.

I fly to PHL weekly and was told by a GA that no one with anything less than Y,B, or M ever get gate upgrades there during the afternoons :( .

This past weekend was my final trip as a DL elite (silver).
Two segments cleared the day ahead (SEA - CVG & CAE - ATL); one went to gate lottery (ATL - SEA) with GIDS opening @ 10 "unassigned" FC - I was #1 of 2 at that point (all three segs were U fares), clearing about 20 mins before boarding.
My only other paid DL flight under new system (Silver, last autumn) was SEA - SLC - SEA. Outbound failed, but the exit row was OK for a 90 min flight; return cleared GIDS @ 1 minute before FC boarding.

That's an exageration. While it's tough to score upgrades out of PHL, it can happen.

I am 13/13.

I am a little worried about this coming Tuesday when my flight appears to be sold out in Y and in F. Any chance they are so oversold in Y that they really have figured that x number of people with Y assignments will eventually end up in F?

I am 100%, I think 18 for 18, (I'm not keeping a spreadsheet). Last Thursday (ATL-MLB) was the first time I was upgraded at the gate and not days before. Tomorrow morning (MLB-ATL) I'm not upgraded on a full Y fare, there are no empty seats in coach according to the DL seatmap and I have no seat assignment. There are 4 available 1st seats on the MD88 so here's hoping!

I am 7 for 8 as a Silver so far this year. :)

Competition out of GSO is brutal. Out of 20 segments YTD, 7 were RJs or single class aircraft. Of the remaining 13, I was upgraded 7 times, so about 50%. For classification, I was over 125k MQM last year and about 2/3rds of my fares are ULTs.

I'm at 2/8 at slilver. I'm always flying the cheap seats though.

6 Segments taken - 5 upgraded. Only one not upgraded was an international segment that wasn't booked in Y/B/M (it was in H).

Two more segments this week - one is an RJ, the other is DL55 from ATL-NRT upgraded to BE.. ^

I'm a 2 year PM, probably make PM again this (next) year..

That is a good flight to get an upgrade on. It's also a boatload of miles at 1.5x.

I am thinking you like the new system vs. the old one.

Yes I do, but what exactly has changed? Not my status....

I qualified as Silver last year and I'm taking my first flight of the year and am upgraded from ATL to NYC part - keeping my fingers crossed for the SLC to ATL part. So - so far 1 for 2.
