I've taken 14 flights, but only 11 had a front cabin.. 2 were K fares, 1 Q fare, 1 D fare, and the rest LUT fares. So really with the one D fare, only 10 were upgradable, and I got upgrades on all 10. I also got upgrades on both of my DCA flights this week which are on Tues/Thursday during peak hours (Tuesday is peak this week because of presidents day - especially to DC - a lot of people have Monday off).. So I can't complain. 3/10 of those were gate lottery because I changed to earlier flights.

all I know is it's a nightmare for nonrevs now. no more domestic first class for employees!
and the new rules guarantee that on many routes there are some unhappy elities because so many can list for an upgrade now. when there are only 5 seats available up front and 15 list for the upgrade then 2/3rds of those who think they are entitled to something end up with just the seat they paid for. |
I am 100% so far but out of only 4 flights to this day. I was 100% last year as well, so no change, but I like the fact that I do not have to wait until 24h in advance on the LUT fares.
For those who fly out of FL, my sympathy! One of my most common flight has become DEN-JFK. On that flight, a FO would get a 100% rate, as FC is never full. |
I'm quite happy with my upgrades
2 for 2 on a Z class upgrades over the Atlantic (PMUs ROCK!). 6 for 7 on domestic |

My lack of success as a GM so far this year. In all fairness, I was flying with the non-status Mrs on 2 of the T fares and might have been upgraded on either or both. What bugs me is 3/4 ug's have been the 27 minute ATL-BHM. No ug on a transcon Y or H. Oh, and only 2 cleared at the appointed time, the other 3 cleared at the gate.
YBM...1/2 HKQ...1/3 LUT....3/9 So, you have to ask yourself, am I better off than this time last year? I'd say I was having better luck as an FO last year in Q1 and don't expect any improvement in Q2. |
5/14. As a PM I'm not too thrilled with the system. I rarely get to book travel before 2-3 days out. Doesn't appear to me like they're holding back many seats. luckily, all my travel is east coast to/from ATL so not long hauls. Because upgrades are the most tangible benefit of PM for me and because of my lack of success, my loyalty factor is way down. I've taken an airtran flight for the first time this month, and booked on NW and United. Going for cheap....

I'm 100 percent YTD and finished last year at 100 percent. For me, its a wash, but I do feel for those on the popular So. Florida routes.

I am pretty happy GM camper - 100% on 9 upgradeable domestic segments. All of these either U or T fare, including dreaded MIA. 2 were gate lotteries, and the rest cleared well in advance. One gate lottery was for LAX-CVG, the other was for a MIA-ATL flight that I had to book less than 24 hrs in advance. My other transcon (CVG-LAX) cleared 1.5 days in advance.
0/4 on international segments though ;) |

I am 6/6 in 2005 for eligible (non RJ) flights as a PM. ^

7/7 as Gold Medallion, all PIT-ATL or ATL-PIT. One cleared at gate. One coming up that hasn't cleared 3 days in advance.
