Hm. Interesting. If I had an e-credit from ticket, say 016...123, and it's not in my account anymore, but I also don't see that e-credit number used as a payment in any of my email booking confirmations, then the only thing that could have happened is that it expired or was cancelled, right? Maybe I got the expiration date wrong, but I was sure it was valid until December, and I do still see another e-credit valid until then. (But I think I can re-trace that one to a different ticket in my emails.)

I have had a ton of ecredits over the last few years. 60-70% never show up in my DL Wallet. They are perfectly valid but I have a spreadsheet to track all of them. DL is not your friend as they hope you never use them. Just because they aren’t in your DL wallet doesn’t mean they don’t exist or have expired.

Some of my credits don’t appear until I search for them by phone number or original ticket number.

Sometimes eCredits/vouchers don't show up in your account but are still valid. If you know the certificate number, you can check by clicking the "Add a certificate or eCredit" link on the website.

I didn't realize you could search for them by phone number. How does one do that?

I’m on my iPhone using safari. Desktop is similar, but looks different.

Under Skymiles, select certificates and e credit. Scroll down and add a certificate. Then select lookup by contact info.

Same. Last year there was one that did not show on my side even with searching by Skymiles account number, phone number or credit card number. I called in on two separate occasions, but it did not show on the Delta agent's side either. Finally tracked down the ticket number and suddenly they were finally able to see it.

I have read this thread in its entirety and a few others. Just need some clarification on one point (or anyone in a similar boat) where it worked to cancel and extend.

Had to cancel a main cabin trip due to death in the family. Ecredits expiring in a few weeks so booked main (not refundable main) travel 11 months out with all the ecredits plus a few dollars more. No way we can travel this year due to more family health issues. Don't want to lose this much money. Haven't had much luck lately :(

Now, cancel within 24 hours OR wait past 24 hours (or rather 48 hrs) to cancel?
Also not to select refund (if I am even given a choice) but rather return all as ecredit, correct?

First, go into the new booking and check the expiration date of the new ticket. It’s in the upper right hand corner and also on your email receipt.

If the new expiration date is acceptable (best case: 1 year from today), then do nothing for AT LEAST 72 hours.

Eventually you will go to cancel, make sure it says you will get an eCredit (NOT REFUND), and cancel. There’s actually no hurry to do this.

Record your eCredit number in a safe place.

Appreciate this very clear guidance. Hope it works. As no way I can fly or even plan travel anytime soon.

How'd you make out?

I hope I'm wrong but I've noticed the phone CSR's using new language recently when attempting to cancel by phone. Something along the lines of "if you cancel this ticket you will forfeit the value of the COVID eCredits". It also seems the system they use to cancel for eCredit has changed and is potentially blocking them from cancelling for full eCredit.

The more experienced agents know they can use "the old system" to cancel the old way for full eCredit.

Early indications, but I suspect changes may be coming...

I have 2 credits to use by Aug 31.

So is the consensus still to book something 300+ in advance and cancel in 3 days? I am pretty sure we need to fly in Dec, but I have to play it safe.

How to extend an eticket?

I know how one can extend an eCredit, but I am referring to an eTicket in my Delta Wallet.

Is there a way to extend it?

I have seen some posts to purchase a cheap ticket with the eTicket and then it will convert the remaining eTicket value into an eCredit (which I am then assuming one can extend the eCredit)?

Is that the only way?

I booked a "refundable" cash flight with two (now expired) e-credits. What happens if I cancel the flight? The flight was much more expensive than the e-credits so I'd prefer to refund back to my credit card. If I cancel and refund back to my credit card.. would I lose the now expired e-credits? Or would I be reissued a new e-credit with extended validity?

I saw there is a trick for people who use two or more e-credits and it combining into one new one.. but not sure whether that's still true for August, 2024?

People also mentioned the trick of booking a ticket for slightly more than the e-credits, cancelling, and getting an e-credit extended that way.

In my case, I planned to use the ticket originally.. but need to cancel.. that's why I didn't do the second trick to try to extend it.

I just want to know if I cancel my ticket whether I'll get a new e-credit for the now expired e-credits or I lose them?

TIA
