AF Lounge Access in CDG
My family and I will be arriving CDG from CVG on Sunday. All three of us are in DeltaOne, and I'm a DM/3MM/Delta Reserve AmEx cardholder. We have a separately-ticketed AF flight later in the day to LHR, in AF Business Class. I understand that we'll have to grab our checked bags, clear immigration, and then check-in ground-side with AF and clear CDG security. My question is: Once we are air-side again, can we access any of the AF Clubs? We have a four hour layover at CDG. I called DL today, and the agent said it will depend on how AF decides to treat us - we may be able to access the club with my Reserve Card - buying a day pass for my wife and daughter. Anyone have any advice?

Thanks so much!

Are you sure about that?
Those AF lounges are not arrival lounges. Because these flights are ticketed separately, I have a feeling that any scanning of the CVG-CDG BP will result in a snippy response from the lounge dragons. "Zees is not an arrival lounge! Allez-vous en!" I don't think the J boarding passes to London will count for entry, will they? Maybe now that the UK isn't EU? |
According to the AF website, a Business class ticket should enable all three of us to access the lounge:
How can I gain access to the Air France lounges? Enjoy complimentary access to our lounges:

https://pro.delta.com/content/agency...e-policy-.html If you are booked in Business class on Air France you will have access to the Air France Lounge. I didn't have to show them our Delta One tickets at all. When I booked the flight to LHR I deliberately gave us a 5 hour layover in case we had to go through the scenario you have listed above. It was not necessary. |
Your AF Business class ticket to LHR will grant you access to the non-Schengen lounge in the hall of departure (most likely hall K).
This access is not because of your inbound D1 ticket. |
Wow - great advice, thanks! We are flying DCA-CVG-CDG, so I’ll print out the policy and see if the folks at DCA will play ball. To be clear, did you grab your bags and then recheck them airside at CDG, or did you not touch your bags until arrival at LHR? The latter scenario would make life much easier…

I have had good experiences working with DCA check in agents re: check through luggage.
I just had them check my luggage through to TPE (KE) via JFK on 2 separate ticket 2 weeks ago. Depends on who you get, some may not have as much experience with it and give yourself extra time for the process just in case. It took her about an hour to get mine done because she had to get her supervisor to help. |
Be sure and pack a few shower/freshen up essentials with your carry-on bag/backpack in case showers are available. If i remember correctly, you might be able to grab a quick shower during your layover. Nothing beats a quick clean-up after a long flight. Bon Voyage!

If your flight to LHR goes out of T2F (the same terminal that flights from the USA use), there is a large Air France Salon that is accessed by stairs and an elevator that are to the left of the security checkpoint exit; you walk through a duty-free shop and food court setup to get there. There are showers in that club, along with both champagne and vodka on ice and the 8 ounce (25 ml) tall narrow cylinder cans of Heineken. You'll also find the AF house cognac, armagnac and calvados. A bracing calvados along with a croissant or pain au chocolat is truly the breakfast of champions.

Keep in mind that you'll have to go through EU immigration on arrival to be able to get your bags and then go through EU "exit" immigration again after you recheck to get through to 2E flight to LHR. It's not a big deal, but make sure you look for the "Access No 1" or SkyPriority lanes for immigration as they are (usually) quicker. France is also dealing with a lot of work stoppages lately as well. This doesn't seem to impact CDG (as opposed to ORY) but just another thing to be aware of. Good luck and enjoy the lounge. |
