JNB Lounge
Any lounges available for SkyTeam Elite Plus flying DL to ATL, either in Delta One or not in Delta One? Am also a SC member (but I think that only counts when there is an actual SC, which there isn’t)
|
Info is available on the DL website, where you can also put in your credentials and ticket type to filter lounge options:
https://www.delta.com/us/en/delta-sky-club/locations Comair Lounge (operated/owned by Comair) (JNB)Johannesburg South Africa: SLOW Lounge, After Terminal A Immigration, turn left, take the first escalator on the left Its a contract lounge so that means no access unless you are in D1. |
We were just there about a week ago but had business class tickets on AirFrance so I can't comment personally but in looking at this page it seems you should be able access....
https://www.skyteam.com/en/loungesRegardless of their travel class, SkyTeam Elite Plus members1 traveling on, or connecting to/from, a same-day international flight2 operated by a SkyTeam member airline have access to a lounge. |

So, no access solely on the basis of STE+ (but if in D1, then yes) Related FT thread: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/delt...l-lounges.html There are also PP options at JNB: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/airp...epartures.html |
My wife was transiting JNB to come back to the US from Mozambique and as a Platinum she had no access to any lounge (she was flying economy). I thought she was mistaken--that didn't seem possible (we used to always get into the AF lounge)--but she checked with several folks at Delta and everyone confirmed there was no lounge she could get into. We travel to Southern Africa somewhat frequently but will probably not use Delta in the future.

I’m Sky team elite plus, and I flew business from JNB to AMS via KLM and was able to use the Virgin Atlantic lounge. When I’ve flown delta one or even comfort+ as a Delta Diamond I’ve been able to use the Virgin Atlantic lounges.

I worded my question the way I did because my wife and I were SkyTeam Elite Plus traveling in Comfort+ but hoping for Global Upgrades to clear. We went to the “SLOW” lounge and asked if we were eligible. The lounge dragon politely explained that it was a contract lounge and only open to DeltaOne pax.
The lounge access tool on delta.com indicated we weren’t eligible for any JNB lounge, but I have found that tool incorrect at times, so I thought there was no harm in asking. Ultimately we did clear into DeltaONE, but too late to use a lounge. BTW we both thought that the DeltaONE “suites” were nicer than the KLM equivalent, but we also agreed that the overall KLM Business Class experience was superior to DeltaONE. |

Lounge access at JNB
I’m a Platinum flying Premium Select from JNB to ATL in March.
In light of the new restrictions on Delta lounge access, does anyone know what the options are at OR Thambo? |
No lounge access at JNB unless you are flying D1 as there are no SkyTeam operated lounges there. It's actually the previous change from several years ago (removing contract lounge access) that is responsible for that rather than any of the new changes.

VS may be actually be a member of Skyteam by then (there's some speculation out there about a late January join date). In which case, DL STE+ status on a Skyteam flight should in theory provide access to VS Clubhouse at JNB. Even if they adopt DL's more restrictive lounge access rules (which wouldn't surprise me), I would suspect DL STE+ in PS cabin would likely provide access (as it does to Sky Clubs).

Do AF/KLM have a lounge?
|
Thanks for this info. Do you know if AF/KLM have a lounge?

In November 2022, I was able to access the Virgin Clubhouse at JNB with the Amex Platinum card.
I was flying to LHR on VS in Economy Delight. |
