Delta pilot bases by aircraft type
This is directly from a post by 80ktsClamp on https://www.airlinepilotforums.com/d...lta-19580.html
NYC crew can start or end a trip at any of the three major NYC airports: JFK, LGA or EWR Delta's 7ER category covers 767-300ER, 757-200 and 757-300. Note the designation of C-Series (A220) bases at NYC and SLC. ATL: 777 767-400 330 7ER (767-300, 757-200, 757-300) 737 320 M88 717 CVG: 737 DTW: (777 is closing there) 350 330 7ER 737 320 717 LAX: 777 7ER 737 717 MSP: 330 7ER 737 320 M88 (closing) NYC: 767-400 330 7ER 737 320 220 717 SEA: 330 7ER 737 SLC: 7ER 737 320 220 |
I'm surprised SLC hasn't lost its 737 base. There aren't that many that flow through there.

Where's the A319 and A321? Is that covered by 320?

Yes, all airbus narrowbodies share the same pilot group.

I'm being overly pedantic, but that statement is no longer true with AIrbus's acquisition of the Bombardier C series... :)

Well, that's an airbus in name only. Sort of like the 717.
With that said, the C-Series (... sorry, A220) probably won't be anything like the 717. The MD-95 (717) was a side-effect of the MD aquisition, whereas Airbus specifically bought into the CS program because they believe there is sustainability there. They'll be selling the C-Series and its derivatives for some time I suspect. |

With the exception of the last departure, SEA-SLC is all 737-800s/900s (the last flight of the night tonight shows an E-175). All of today's flights to LAX from SLC are on 737-800s/900s. 3 of today's 5 JFK-SLC flights are 737-800s/900s. 2 of MCO's 3 flights today are on 737s. 2 of BOS's 3 daily flights today are on 737s. SLC-CLT is a 737-800 today. I did see some routes (such as PDX-SLC and SAN-SLC) that I've flown a 737 on before that didn't show any 737s today (all Airbus series) but still plenty of 737 ops to/through SLC.

Interesting. Upon doing a departure breakdown it looks like there are also 11 MD-90 departures. Weird since they closed the SLC -90 base over five years ago. Their operation at SLC leaves me scratching my head. SLC is a small hub. I don't see the point of having both a 737 and A320 base. Both aircraft have similar capacity and range and either can perform any mission from SLC. It would seem to make more sense to consolidate SLC to all 320 since it is a more versatile fleet with the 319,320,321. And soon SLC will have a C Series (A220 base). For a hub with ~220 departures and only half of it being mainline it seems crazy to have three narrobody types based there. |
Friend of mine just bid Captain on it in SLC. Currently an SLC 320 FO. He says the 737will be growing slowly over the next two years. According to him the pilots have been told that the base will grow significantly once the new airport comes online in 2020.
Also my soon-to-be daughter-in-law is a Delta FA. She said the FA's have been told the same thing. SLC is to have a lot of new flying. As they both also said, that and three bucks will get you a cup of coffee... |
