Hopefully we'll get SLC-MEM back. :|

Also my soon-to-be daughter-in-law is a Delta FA. She said the FA's have been told the same thing. SLC is to have a lot of new flying.

As they both also said, that a three bucks will get you a cup of coffee...

I'm guessing most SLC expansion will be with the C Series. We might see the return of routes SLC-JAX, CMH, MEM, etc.

There is a range limit on the C-Series purchase contract so unfortunately thin-and-long routes do not appear to be Delta's focus with the C-Series jets (which is a shame as they would be Delta's most comfortable long haul in Y by far.. I'd pay out the wazoo to get a transcon on an E175 or CS-100 ;)).

I'm betting that won't last too long. Airbus will probably elimate the range restrictions on Delta's next order. The C Series shines the most on long routes.

That's a pretty bold hypothetical.

Either way, SLC isn't going to be where they do long and thin routes. Delta will run long and thin where it thinks there is a market for non-stop premium O/D traffic, and I'm not sure SLC has enough O/D traffic to create that premium. I could see it in a larger O&D market like Seattle, LA, or NYC.

Yeah I was thinking SEA or LAX would have been one of the first C Series bases too.

It just makes sense at LGA where they can replace some regionals. Would be great to get them on the shuttle routes too, which deserve a more premium product. 3 years ago we hardly had any Delta Airbus at LGA and now that's pretty much all we have on the mainline flights with an occasional 717 mixed in.

SLC-CMH is returning in 2019 but, as others said, I figure the range limits imposed probably puts the kibosh on the CS100/A220 running it.

That was driven by a change in required nav gear to operate out of LGA. Delta had to pull the MD88’s out on short notice.

I didn't realize that, but then I google'd it. Sigh, 1000nm doesn't get us across the ocean.

Parenthetically, the Delta testimony revealed that its transaction with BBD priced the CS100 as a 1,000-mile airplane. Should Delta begin using the aircraft on longer routes, additional monies will be paid to Bombardier. The CS100 has a range of more than 2,900nm.
Nice upgrade from a CRJ though.

BOS is a pilot base. What aircraft are based there?

Just about anything but a hang glider would be an upgrade from the CRJ-200.
