Getting rerouted and only arriving six hours late at a European connection city sounds about as good as you could get. They don't have the frequent intra-Europe service that we get in the eastern U.S.

It seems like OP's bigger concern is compensation, right? OP, if you were delayed because of weather, you are not due any compensation. If you were delayed because of a Delta mechanical or operational (missing FA, etc), then you will be compensated.

As others have said, a 6 hour delayed arrival to Europe is really a very good situation. Personally I would be more focused on getting on whichever route would not leave me in a middle seat, but that's just me.

it was mechanical that caused my misrouting and problem. Ended up getting everything I needed and I got a good phone agent on the second time calling who got me into my destination 5 minutes earlier than my original flight (very creative routing the first agent didn’t find) and was given vouchers as an apology. Alls well that ends well and couldn’t have been happier in the end

I love posts like "Help please rerouted flight" that ask for help but then don't detail either the original routing or the resolution.

I would get to Europe as fast as you can. Pay to upgrade to say United's C+ or an exit row. Submit the receipt to DL to get reimbursed. I had to do that for a reroute from a KLM flight back home to Austrian and they charged a exit row fee, which I paid and asked for reimbursement, which DL did on KLM's behalf. Also asked for UA miles for the Austrian flight and the original DL miles for what I would have had flying KLM home.

Had this been on a EU carrier, then you would have been entitled to 600 euro cash compensation for arriving more than 4 hours late (KLM also offers 800 euro voucher instead)

my post above yours told you the highlights of my resolution but in the end got a creative routing from the second agent I called who was awesome. Rebooked me in Y on UA so I ended up getting the miles and 150% PQM as well into my MileagePlus account. Very friendly UA agent in the airport gave me and my +1 their version of C+ on the house and I got vouchers from DL for Delta dollars which was very generous.

Very happy overall first first time as a PM with IRROPS and I must say DL (second agent anyways :) ) handled it perfectly.

You could also ask Delta for 'original routing credit' for the flights you were supposed to take so you get miles on DL....

hi everyone long time lurker and could use help. PM on DL whose flight got delayed to JFK for a connection to Europe so now I’m stuck. Original offer was to send me through Paris but that would delay me 6 hours to my destination. They then offered to go to United but I had comfort plus and the offer is being in 2 separate middle seats on United.

Legitimately in in terms of compensation what could I expect from Delta?

Similar experience, paid Business class, delayed 24 hours (mechanical)., Delta - hotel room for the night, $0 other consideration.

Did you ask for any other compensation? Flying in biz I'm surprised they weren't proactive, but still you should've been provided something more.
Also if you didn't get your bag, refund of toiletries for overnight.

How much in vouchers did they give you? Did you ask for them or did the agent offer them?

FYI, I have never heard of Rez handing out vouchers when you are getting in even earlier than scheduled...only saying that so others reading don't come to expect it as the norm (and why should it be if you are 5 mins early)

Carryon only, so had my bag.

Plat line gave me a special number to call, after relaying details was told something would happen, never did.
