Trip Speculation
I need this as a confidence booster... I booked a V ticket from DTW-PVG on Oct 18th and coming back on Oct 22nd. I used 2 GUC for this trip and I was waitlisted on both. This is my first trip to Asia and 14.5 hour seems like a long flight. I am booked into C+ on the way out and back.
Other then wait and see, lets speculate odds on if I clear or not. DTW-PVG has 16 spots and PVG-DTW has 20 spots. This is my first post so please be gentle on the comments. I respect a lot of opinions on the board. ^ |
Seat map is no indication of how many seats left to be sold. While Americans tend to assign seats ahead of time, most in the world don't. Thus 20 seats on seatmap could have 10 people that haven't picked a seat yet.
No way to give a clear cut odd. DTW/PVG isn't just O/D traffic, but connecting to/from MU/FM for connections. |

I'm only PM right now so don't have a lot of GUC experience but only 1 of my RUC's has never cleared (ATL>LAX and I booked 2 days before window UG's happen) but it seems likely to clear based on what I've read elsewhere. I like to message Twitter every week or so and make sure I'm on WL, takes me 30 seconds and one time they cleared me.

Well good news is the flights are both still J9C9D9 for inventory, and some I fares are available on the flights also. Bad news is its still 3 weeks out.

I would say your chances are great "IF" your upgrades were properly wait-listed.
That is a big IF....this program is broken |
I was on this flight last Friday.
2 seats available at gate, while 6 GUCs on the waitlist (word from lounge agent when I asked if there is any possibility of paid upgrade like what AF usually does) |
