Aircraft downgrade question
 

I purchased a Delta Comfort (W) ticket on a CRJ 700 flight in December. A schedule change just occurred and downgraded the flight to a CRJ 200.

They re-assigned me to seat 1A which appears to be an exit row (can someone confirm that, or is it a bulk head?). I am traveling with a service animal which I know that I can't be seated in an exit row.

Also, is this really classified and sold as Delta Comfort on the CRJ 200? If not, am I entitled to some sort of refund because I am just getting a standard coach seat now?

It is not an exit as it has a hard bulkhead.

There's a bulkhead between door and seats. Row has extra space, thus DL has decided to call it C+. Scam IMO, but its what they did. You can always call and ask for a change of flights to another flight if one exists.

Did the operating DL Connrction carrier change also?

No carrier is still Skywest. This seat/row actually looks like it has more floor space after all. I found a cabin tour on YouTube.

I strongly disagree with this. There is no such thing as a good or even decent seat on a CR2; calling row 1 "comfort plus" is a complete joke. Going from C+ on a CR7 to row 1 on a CR2 is a big downgrade that I'd call DL about and try to get fixed.

Yeah, I'd be gunning to get my money back on a C+ downgrade to a CR2.

Yes, the bulkhead is nicer but it's not worth paying the extra money for it because you lose seat width due to the tray tables being in armrests.

With a service animal, I would expect DL to assign a bulkhead seat for free. AFAIK row 1 is the only bulkhead on the aircraft, while something like row 8 is the exit row.

While DL is under no obligation to do so because the operating carrier did not change, if you call and ask for a refund of the C+ fare dfference, DL will generally do so. But, you won't be seated in C+.

No, DL won't upgrade to C+ or on a larger aircraft C+/F/D1 based on a disability.

I disagree. On many aircraft types, the coach special needs seats are located in the first row behind FC, which now is C+. I've seen DL assign these seats for free to passengers with special needs, including service animals.

I purchased the Delta Comfort ticket so that I could secure the row immediately behind F on the CR7 because it has more room because there is no wall between the cabins.

The bulkhead legroom/space on the CR200 has just as much space so I'm happy with this.

They legally have to give C+ seating if it's a bulkhead. It's not a separate cabin, but rather fare class.

Now that it is being sold as a premium economy product and an upgrade from Main Cabin (except to/from EU) that's not quite as clear.

C+ is NOT being sold as PE. Goigle Flights, ITAMatrix, and a few others some times mislabel it as PE. This is due to W being PE on all OAL. However it is NOT PE. DL PE (called PS) is only sold on A350 and eventually 777 aircraft.

C+ has been and continues to be a main cabin experience, albeit with slightly better room and a free drink.

DL choose to turn these seats into a different product; they certainly took this factor into account when they did this.
