OY instead of OP ?

GUC's just cleared for upcoming DTW-NRT flight. It shows OY instead of OP. Is this a new Delta 1 upgrade booking class?

My GUC upgraded trip in July shows OY too.

Interestingly, the domestic flight in C+ shows SU.

Looks like that thread was quite old and didn't reflect reality.... just last month I traveled with a GUC and it went into OP/RP. The effective cut-in from that change seems to be recent.

Makes me wonder if they are making more buckets.

I think C+ is getting at least one more letter. S IIRC.

I posted in the "Delta Premium Select - "W" Class?" thread. Is the SU a complimentary upgrade?

My upcoming domestic flights changed to SU for the C+ comp upgrade.

I'm wondering whether the next step will be DL using different inventory buckets for upgrades with miles versus GUGs/RUCs or even different buckets depending on the coach fare class (as PMNW did, where having B class rather than M made it much easier to confirm WBC for IME a couple hundred dollars more).

Just checked mine and they have also been changed to SU from WU within the last few days.

Just my usual request for a wiki, when all the codes are sorted.

I have been using MSPEconomist's helpful mnemonic for OP/RP, that "P" is for "paper", which connotes an instrument (RUC/GUC/mileage) upgrade. And that for OU/RU, "U" is for an ordinary (Medallion) "upgrade".

But I now fear this will get more complicated....

If they are changing the C+ complimentary upgrade to SU, I would have expected C+ to no longer be W (presumably so that W can be used to Premium Select), but it remains W.

SU is short for "Suck it Up" this is the only upgrade you're going to get :)

Wondering if this is to distinguish different C+ routes (domestic, international, etc.) and perhaps to distinguish between revenue and award ticket upgrades. (My previous award ticket C+ upgrades also went to WU. Not sure if that remains the same since SU appeared).

Edited to answer my own question: Award ticket C+ upgrades now show SU.

flyerwma May 31, 2017 10:39 am

Just noticed by doing a dummy booking.

Domestic award in C+ now books to S.
Domestic revenue ticket in C+ still books to W.

I checked for both D1 (JFK-LAX) and non-D1 domestic routes. Didn't check international.
