Oh...I also have a redemption in mind that at today's prices anyway...will score me 3.4 cpp with my SkyPesos (Already have the miles before this 12.5k though).

What that is...loose lips - sink ships.

Got me curious about EU rules - which I know are more defined, but never really looked up. I see Tier 3 Mechanical would be $600 Euros / $650 or so.

I'll keep that in mind for next time - if there is one.

Flight cancellation is once in a blue moon for me, so guess it hasn't touched a raw nerve yet.

Also was happier in a way because I got a seat with no one next to me...so that perhaps played a role in all this for me. Though it did cause me to reschedule an important meeting. Didn't have a hotel reservation on the other side.

Guess I have good luck with flying in regards to this -- but I pray to the god CLOUDius every year on the Annual AirFeast Day. So I'm good.

7K miles for non-operational WiFi today. Not bad on a 18K mile flight. One if the reasons that I like redeeming SkyMiles for relatively inexpensive flights, you can get a lot of your money back

Should have checked a bag, too. That’s almost free money these days.

8 hour delay on DTW-PNS. Delays started 90-minutes before departure and rolled on-and-on throughout the day. Original arrival was 3:15PM, actual was after 11:00PM.

On-site customer service cited weather for the first 2 delays (3+ hours).

When we finally were prepping to board, the GA said "your inbound was stuck in MEM, so the new plane is inbound from PHL. It would have been here 3 hours ago, but there were multiple mechanical issues."

As we were taxiing for takeoff, the pilots said "folks, we apologize, we should have gotten here sooner. In PHL, we went through 2-3 planes to find one that was suitable to fly."

When we landed, we got the apology email saying "send us your food receipts for reimbursement". We obviously don't have any receipts since we were just snacking as we expected to depart every 90 minutes, but the delays just kept rolling.

What is a reasonable ask?

Million of Peso's.... But, since it was Weather issues to start with, I doubt you will get anything.

DL acknowledged the mechanical issues that made worse the weather delays.

Each person in our party was given an ecredit for future use. Value was about half the cash price of the purchased ticket so we’re very pleased.

Surprisingly excellent experience with delayed baggage compensation. Delta failed to load my bag onto a plane in ATL and was unable to get it to me in Juneau before my adventure cruise left Juneau the next day. I figured this out between ATL and SEA (never got the ‘bag on plane’ notification and then checked the Air Tag, which showed the bag still sitting next to B Concourse in ATL)

Knowing that Delta wasn’t going to get my bag to me in time for the cruise- SEA-JNU is a once a day flight and they hadn’t really identified my bag as lost by the time I was wheels down in SEA- I kind of panic bought a bunch of stuff at the Marmot store in SEA, which happened to be right across from my next gate.

I got into JNU and had a polite discussion with a GA there about how I was going on a wilderness cruise that wasn’t going anywhere inhabited where they could forward a bag to so could they please hold the bag in their office at the airport for the next week. I think she made some good notes on my file.

First try at reimbursement request was after lunch yesterday— I filled out their reimbursement form, attached receipts for what is to me a substantial amount of money ot spend on clothing (I usually haunt the sale section of Backcountry.com for outdoor apparel). Reimbursement request was approved in full in like 3-4 hours, I got the link to the Chase portal thing and the money has been moved to my credit union account by this morning.

So less than 24 hours. The perfesser thinks I should have asked for some miles for my troubles, but I’m calling it a win that I get to keep the really nice heavyweight raincoat and many other clothing items I never would have paid that much for on my own (okay, there were some cute socks with sea otters I might have gotten from that gift shop in Juneau)

It helps me feel a little better about the airline after a return home where I technically made all my connections and didn’t end up spending the night in Seattle but involved a two hour delay for crew scheduling reasons, a 40 minute delay because of an issue with a cargo door, a 30+ minute hold on the ramp in ATL with gate in sight because of ramp congestion and light jogging intervals with a backpack on between concourses at ATL.

Welp, rolling delays (4.5h and counting now) and only offered $12 in meal voucher for mechanical issue. I've left the D1 lounge twice now, only to discover no plane at the gate, so ... pretty poor showing on Delta's part.

Do you want a bigger voucher? Sorry… beyond getting to your destination, what do you want?
