So the reason I called in was because I had a flight to FLL tomorrow, but given all that's going on (not just the shooting, but the weather everywhere, etc.) I decided not to go. Totally optional trip for me, and I can easily do it another time.
They offered a full credit of my ticket: $654.20 back to me, and said I can book another flight within the 1 year period since original issuance. I go on the website, and it says the ticket value is $454.20... (e.g. they charged a $200 change fee) They claimed 'oh you have to call in to rebook your tickets' if you want the full value. Can't do it on the website. I'm a Delta newb, so does that hold water? Seems like the website should show $654.20. I don't have a huge issue calling in to book (minus the 15 hour hold times! :) ), but then I'm charged a telephone booking fee, and may have to fight with them over the $200 if it wasn't actually waived. |

IIRC I actually couldn't use the credit online when I tried, but when I called about a week later to use the credit, the agent mentioned it had been noted with the weather waiver and applied the full value to my new ticket. I think that DL's systems automatically dock the change fee, but the ecredit is somehow notated so the subsequent agent can remove the fee upon making the new booking. |
What happens is that the DL CSR documented the ticket itself that the change fee is waived for when you call back. A person can read that, the website cannot.
Even if there was still a phone fee, I don't believe it applied to re-issues anyway. |
