Glad the OP made it out fairly fast ^ but thanks for the plug. Was a fun night, even without any fireworks.

My suggestion for the OP is that you send DL a letter complementing them on handling the situation in such a great way and for going above and beyond to make sure all passengers were comfortable.
Did you see the recent report of that plane that was diverted to Ireland and the PAX had to spend the night on matts on the airport floor?

I agree, it sounds like DL did a great job on this one. ^

with two rear fuselage mounted engines - LATER in reading another picture
appears and you find out the Delta aircraft was a 747-400.
Everything is find after landing and the emergency folks check the plane
over - EXCEPT you are left hanging with the animals (dogs) in the cargo
compartment what happen to them ?????

Current status:
Approx 30 mins before landing, the FA announces that the Singapore flight is departing at 8:50, all others are missed connections and will spend night in Narita. Upon landing, looked on Delta app and saw I was already rebooked on Japan Airlines for the morning flight. Deplaned to 5 passenger assistant agents, they provided hotel voucher and bus info to get to hotel. At hotel, received dinner and breakfast vouchers.
So, the question becomes... what should I ask for compensation in miles?
