Nooooooo!!! Don't rely on this to be 100%!!!
In the SkyClubs, I usually go by the flight monitors, which <in theory> should be coming from the same data as the app. A couple of times recently, I was waiting for the monitor to say "Boarding" - - and I was a little concerned about how close it was to departure time - - and I went to the gate, and the flight(s) were already part way thru boarding! The "Boarding" data is pretty good, but not 100% to rely on, particularly if you need overhead bin space.

Back to the OP's situation.
It appears that he was booked on a legal connection at or above MCT. That is binary and is determined by contract. If means that DL is prepared to accept the risk of a misconnect. However, MCT does not equate to SCT (Sensible Connect Time). That is a choice made by OP. As to holding a flight, that decision is made by Operations and is based on a lot of factors. Even the last flight of the night may still create crew rest issues because that crew is expected to fly early the next AM. Thus, holding the last flight may delay the next AM's flight. In addition, others have plans. They may have meetings, people waiting for them, trains to catch and so on. When it comes down to inconveniencing 100+ people vs. 5, it's a presumption against holding. Will DL sometimes hold? Sure. But, it's rare and nobody ought to count on it. Lastly, with overbooking, if the flight remains at risk of oversale at T-15 for domestic, there is no sense in holding the flight as the agent has presumably off-loading the misconnects. |
