I was wondering about that too! That's a lot of flying!

So you guys think on March 1st, things will get better because of people losing status? I don't think it will be that much different. It seems they are trying to sell seats in F until the last minute these days.

Upgrades are not that big a deal for me (gotten use to EC). But my main concern is the lack of saver reward fares and the fact that we get a lot less miles now. So when you factor both those things in is as if a ticket now costs twice as many miles or even more.

This is also me. I often get upgraded to F as a PM, but not getting it is fine with me as I am in EC. It will be interesting to see if the new EC+ has anything to offer beyond a few more snacks and free hooch.

I would not miss the F ug as much if EC were a viable option, but it rarely seems to be available within my booking window. There simply aren't. Enough rows, and no way am I taking a middle in EC over an aisle in the rear. I see no benefit in a middle EC seat unless the alternative is a middle in E-

The reality is that EC is a for-sale product; therefore, you are competing against people who purchase EC. Now you could argue that Delta should add more EC to accommodate elites, but that runs counter to the new revenue model, which is ta-da -

No more free stuff ( or very limited).

They are over. It's no secret, Delta has a publically issued metric that it wants to sell 80% of its FC seats. That inventory has to come from somewhere, namely, free upgrade inventory.

Wow, amid all the moves towards secrecy and obfuscation, a public declaration complete with a numerical target. Even Chairman Smi$ek of the UA cartel has only mentioned that they "intend to sell as many first class seats as possible." With these statements in mind, it is entertaining to read the 1/4-1/3rd FT correspondents that post remarks about being puzzled why there are not more upgrades becoming available. One of the rare areas where both DL and UA have been quite clear about their intentions.
