Delta pulling out of India/ BOM?

Just heard a whisper at BOM that in 3 months Delta will be pulling out from the daily trip AMS-BOM and BOM-AMS.

Maybe KLM is taking back this route?

AF already has a once a day flight CDG-BOM-CDG

In addition Virgin also has a daily LHR-BOM-LHR flight.

It was said, back in the PMNW days, that the only reason the flight existing in the first place was KL ran into some sort of issue and was not allowed to have the route. I doubt DL has any love loss if they have to hand it back over to KL.

It's been a couple of years since I've been to BOM but I seem to remember that even though the flight is DL metal KL actually runs the station for them.

Haters gonna hate. They're just jealous that I play the game from both sides. ;)

I miss the ATL-BOM on the original 77W

Hey Folks,

A few years ago, I flew the ATL-BOM on a regular basis - That was an awesome flight (in J). I never flew it in Y but it looked like punishment. I was always amused that on the way back to ATL, they deleted the duty free carts to save weight on the 77W. Even still, we stopped in CFB a few times to refuel...

In general, flying to India is pretty low on my list, no matter how I fly. The last couple of years I have flown EK F. The in flight experience is fine, but once you land...............

I don't recall that flight, but I wish I'd done it!

CFB? Canadian Forces Base?

Actually, CFB is Cabo Frio International Airport, but it was Brazil.

At one point the bilateral between the Netherlands and India only allowed 7 weekly frequencies. So to get around that KLM did daily AMS-DEL and had NW do daily AMS-BOM (NW's flights would fall under the much larger US/India bilateral)

my understanding is now India has a new bilateral with the Netherlands which would allow KLM to add BOM and keep its existing India flights.

77W?

I've heard similar rumors.

I believe Northwest operated this route because the India-Netherlands air service bilateral only allowed 7 frequencies per country, and KLM had those in Delhi. The air services agreement now allows up to 21 frequencies per country, so KLM could take BOM back.
