Rumor: DL removing complementary upgrades

Hi all,

My contact at DL has stayed the SkyMiles team is seriously and strongly considering removing Medallion upgrades all together.

I was wondering your thoughts.

Nope. They won't get rid of that benefit given that every other legacy carrier offers comp upgrades. Look at the backlash they experienced when they removed transcon upgrades.

That would be gutting the core of the program. Or as crazy as cutting free alcohol from FC..

It does seem that that along with the devaluation of the redeemable miles would completely undercut the entire loyalty program concept altogether.

I couldn't agree more, just surprised that it took 5 replys before someone suggested it.

You never know about the "complementary" ones. But the freebies which are sometimes called "complimentary" don't seem to be covered !

Just to correct a factual innacuracy. While UA, like DL, offers unlimited freebies to all elites, AA only offers them to its top-tier elites.

I hope they do! Let people pay for the service they desire. Keep the gamers, mistake fare fliers and cheapskates out. Make it truly First Class. Then my stock will go up more. Thank you Delta!

Dang. Y'all beat me to it.

Guess I should have saved reading the comments to today's Pearls Before Swine for later...

That is, if you ever really were there yesterday.

It is quite difficult to understand how anyone on FT ever believes anything that you post.

Another vote for ending the comp upgrades.
Charge for upgrades and make it real First Class.

That's even less likely than DL ending complimentary upgrades.
