You don't say where you are flying to on the way back or when your flight arrives from China. While 1.5 hours should suffice, I would feel more confident if I knew that there were later flights that day to my final destination.

What's this terminal 2 gate 217? Is this your arrival gate in China or are you flying some carrier other than DL?

Never heard the old terminal called T2 before, at least not since the new McNamara has been built, and even then I think they all had names over there. And gate 217?
But 12:12 pm sounds like the departure time for the DL nonstop.
In that case 57 minutes from the US to Intl should be no problem.
But 90 minutes for immigration and customs might cut it close on the return.

Being DTW based, I've never heard of Terminal 2 or a gate with a number anything close to 217.

But more so, I have never known gate information to be available for a flight 4 months out. Most of the time, you'd be lucky to know the gate 12 hours out.

If both your flights are on Delta and neither is a barbie jet, chances are they will both be in the McNamara A Terminal. 57 minutes is easily doable. As other have said, 90 minutes on the return for clearing customs might be close.
