If it is, I'll book two tickets in a heartbeat. That's a steal for around the world in J.

Per the above, calling is your best bet. A basic google search rendered the following, among other hits:

From delta.com:

Go Round The World

SkyTeam has launched a self-service Round the World Planner. The user-friendly online application has been designed to allow customers to create their own SkyTeam Round the World itineraries, using the extensive networks of all 14 SkyTeam member airlines.

A customized version of the Round the World planner along with a quick reference guide for making a reservation has been developed for travel agents. It can be accessed via the skyteam.biz website.

Click here for additional information about SkyTeam and the SkyTeam Travel Passes. Please note, travel agents must register to access the skyteam.biz website.

For help with SkyTeam RTW reservations, please contact Delta's Sales Support Center or your local Delta Reservation Center and ask to be transferred to Delta's RTW desk. Travel agents can also check with their GDS for formats to view the program rules. Delta's RTW desk is open 7:00am - 11:00pm ET.

SkyMiles Program Rules & Guidelines:

Round the World Awards

Round-the-World routing must be in a continuous eastbound or westbound direction (i.e., backtracking is not permitted). Travel must terminate in the country of origin without extending beyond the point of origin. Flights operated by codeshare partners must permit local traffic between the stopover point and the destination; the most direct routing applies. Does not apply to Pay with Miles redemptions.

boardingarea.com: Guide to Booking Round-the-World (RTW) Awards with Delta SkyMiles This posting is from last October.

Round-the-World (RTW) awards can be considered one of the best tools in a frequent flier’s arsenal, if you kno

I'm assuming 280k for a J RTW redemption would be all low availability, which can be a challenge with SkyMiles.

Good luck. Over the past few years I have tried to book ST ATW awards multiple time with absolutely no success. You can only book them if seats are available on all carrier and the issue is they do not make many award seats available for partner booking from airlines like DL.

If you're successful let us know. Really hope you are. :)

I've been banking for months with the anticipation of 2x280K miles, so I sure hope its doable (as does my wife).

It's been this way for awhile...it was even less than that not too long ago. What are you waiting for?

Anyone have a good sample itinerary for this?

How do you get 560,000 miles in just months? Especially as "only" a PM?

rylan May 8, 2014 6:27 am

The biggest issue as mentioned is that you need LOW availability on all segments/partners for your itinerary... which makes it quite involved. Luckily the RTW desk is pretty good at taking the time to come up with options and piecing together routing, but you probably have to do some work up front also.

The SkyTeam round the world trip planner is hyperlinked from delta.com's route map page.

There is a very durable sticky thread on RTWs in the SkyTeam forum.
