I have a few trips booked just to take 210lbs of stuff between NYC <> LAX. I think of it as a few paid MRs at 150%MQM and 225%RDM. It is also a wise business decision for me and my financial backers.

Different strokes for different folks.

Rule of FF program perks:
You can keep some of the DMs happy all the time or all the DMs happy some of the time. You can't keep all the DMs happy all the time.

Lots of people can use that allowance. When I fly somewhere and tent camp, and bring a non-elite with me, I will easily use 3 pieces of checked luggage, one or two of which can be over 50 pounds.

Correct - that statement made no sense. Then he states he uses the allowance himself sometimes.

Not you, I guess, but I sometimes have to bring some pretty hefty work equipment with me. Three bags @ 90lbs is over $300. Not cheap.

Then there's the additional cost when TSA breaks your gear. Still cheaper than renting locally, though.

My ex-GF. We went to Napa for a 3 day w/e, and she brought 2 full-sized suitcases. Not 22" roll-aboards. ...full-size 35"! She had a 22" carry-on, too.

I'm sure a longer trip would have been at least 3 checked bags, and likely over the weight limit, too.

I traded her in for a lower maintenance version shortly thereafter. :D

I'm afraid of downgrading to FO next year as work isn't letting me travel alot this year. I know it's still far ahead, but once March 2014 hits and I'm silver, will I still have the 2nd bag free if I have the DL branded AMEX?
