I can confirm that after several journeys from A to B and back to A on the 18th, the plane train was not running.

Right, they will shutdown for 3 or 4 hours. You can go into the moving sidewalk or if you want to walk. It's your choice. Because the trains will be out of service. The trains have go to maintenance.
OP: The walk from C-F is a lot longer than C-T. The walk from E-F takes you under two taxiways/ramp areas. At this point, make sure you check with your airline to ensure you have help once you arrive in ATL. |

I've walked it a few times, it's winding and long. I'd much sooner walk C to domestic if I was tired and ready to go home.
Though I used to walk to E before every international flight just for the excersise. Had to pace F last weekend instead. |

I called the airport, and they said it will be closed from 1-4 am. Ouch! Great to hear about the closed sidewalk. I am arriving at C, and I think I will get picked up at the International side to avoid that walk.

Branded Infrastructure
I chuckle when I hear the "welcome to the Plane Train" recording. They've branded the train. I'm sure "welcome to the Coca-Cola Plane Train" can't be far behind.
Or, "you may pick up your luggage at the Samsonite Baggage Carousel." Better yet, "today's security screening brought to you by The Cheetah Club." :D |

We all know that security screening would be sponsored by the Clermont Lounge. ;)

You will have a longer walk as you must take the escalators into concourse E, walk through the concourse then down E, more moving sidewalks to F. Up into F and out to the curb.
Yes, it was a PITA, but blizzard in Denver delayed the flight, and we were lucky just to get out. Thanks for the advice guys. It is interesting that the busiest airport in the world, with no noise restrictions, is clearly not a 24 hr operation. |

So we arrived in ATL at 3am, and the airline (F9) had indeed requested a one car train to shuttle those to the domestic terminal. Being one of the first of the plane, and not wanting to wait 1/2 hour for the entire plane to make it's way down to the train, we hoofed it to the international terminal where we had a car waiting.

The airline requested a special shuttle train for the delayed flight and the airport was able to accommodate at 3am, which is in the dead middle of the train maintenance times. Not sure what else you would have wanted. There are many other airports that completely shut down and lock their doors after a certain time each night, and flights that won't make it on time just get cancelled altogether. If anything, your experience is proof that ATL can and does operate at all hours of the day to the extent that flight schedules demand it - they're not going to run empty trains all night, and they have to do maintenance on them at some point. |

I suppose they could have commandeered a T gate for the arrival only, but other than that, they did what they could. |
