Delta/Alaska/American Miles Question

I just booked a ticket from ORD to LAX on Alaska Airlines (vs. United or AA) to earn miles in my Delta Skymiles account. Also, I figured I might have a shot at an upgrade as a Platinum Medallion.

Much to my dismay, after booking, I realized the flight is actually on American metal. When I booked, it let me choose from a drop down to earn Delta miles for the flight. I called and the lady at Alaska told me I wouldn't earn Delta miles, but I'm not 100% if she is right.

I'm curious now if I will earn Delta miles in this situation. Any feedback is appreciated.

You will definitely not earn miles on AS coded, AA operated flights.

If you just booked it, you can cancel it still. AAmoperated but AS coded will not earn Skymiles. Always something to watch out for with AS, since they have plenty of AA codeshares.
