This would cut down on gate lice encirclement herds and auto-create an actual line. Americans should get with the program and organize themselves into queues in a more efficient and cooperative manner.

And then contend with the carry on baggage policy.

If you make everyone "elite", nobody is elite anymore.

Should they stop assigning seats as well?

Typical Monday morning flight. :p I try to avoid those if I can.

No. Logically seat assignment 1A would be BSN#1, 1B would be BSN#2 and so on. It's the logical endpoint of all this zone nonsense. Everyone is uniquely assigned a position in the line. If you are not there when the line begins boarding, you join the end of the line. Anyone who is troublesome or looks up, will suffer the wrath of the Soup Nazi.

Except for those Dean Woolman places on "double secret elite" status.:D

Then we might as well fly Southwest. No thanks!

My thought EXACTLY -- lets just switch to WNA! :)

Thanks I guess

On this it has gotten ridiculous with all of the zones. As long as they let me on the plane we will all get there at the same time.

There's something here that's legitimately confusing in that FO and DL AmEx is priority boarding but not SkyPriority, yet they board in zone 1 through the SkyPriority lane.

Maybe DL should change the boarding process and make zone 1 board through the regular lane, but then FOs and DL AmEx cardholders would complain that they want more special treatment. This would avoid the OP's problem of being in FC but having to wait in a long line to board.

Depending on how desperate I felt about bin space, I would have been tempted to hold back and board through the SkyPriority side later in the boarding process once I missed zone SKY and saw the huge line. Or the OP could have feigned a bit of stupidity and approached the podium through the kettle side to politely ask the GA whether FC was boarding yet, which might have resulted in an invitation to cut the line. YMMV.

Right, but the fundamental issue is carry-on space in the overhead bins, not zones.

When in HKG recently, I just laughed at the UA flight with all of the different boarding zones. It seems like the US carriers give about 80% of the plane priority boarding. (Also, watched the US version of Airline which followed WN, and it seems like about everybody has their own zone over there)

Absolute Kettle move on your part. Why do you need to board early (I assume so you have space in the bin for your carry-on). Besides that ... relax ... wait at the end of the line for Zone 1 ... and board. You'll get your beverage still.
