Stuck on the Jetway
Here's a new one for me: I was very late to the flight but the agent took pity, opened the boarding door, and told me to run. About halfway down the jetway I hear the alarm start ringing and the floor start moving. After a bit of screaming from agents on either side of the jetway, I returned to the terminal.
Here are my questions: did this count as IDB? Had the same gate agent not rebooked me (without much effort), what are the consequences of having my boarding pass scanned but not boarding the flight? (And in the interest of full disclosure, I did SDC to get on this earlier flight, so I can't be that upset at what happened) |
This is a new one for me, but id love to hear what happens

The aircraft door was already shut and you were late...no IDB.
|
SOunds like you need to get that 40 yards dash time down below a 4.9...
|
DOT IDB compensation rules only apply to denied boardings due to an overbooked flight. That's why it is in section 4 entitled "Overbooking". It appears you simply SDC'd to a flight without sufficient time to make it. IDB does not apply.

Besides, OP wasn't denied boarding, he was merely denied the luxury of a jet bridge connected to the aircraft.

"Exciting New Changes to the Boarding Process" OT: if the "smart Southwest" gal in that ad is indicative of the average WN biz pax, I might be persuaded that assigned seats and upgrades aren't actually enhancements. |

Unless the plane left before T-15 of the published time you simply were late or misconnected. No Soup for you.
|
OK, I could be wrong.... BUT, I don't read it as the OP was looking for compensation. I think the question is what happens if the OP gets back into the terminal and the GA who scanned the BP was gone. Another agent will look in the system and see that the OP's BP was scanned and should be on the plane. Is the OP allowed to take the next flight.

this thread is ridiculous.
