Miles from SDC

Hi all,
Long time reader, first time poster
I have Gold status on DL and am flying from LAX to YYC (direct on WS codeshare). However, I'm considering routing my flight for a long layover in SLC to get some Crown Burgers. Assuming I'm able to secure SDC for a different routing, will I receive Skymiles for the original itinerary or the new itinerary?
Thanks in advance

Welcome to FT!

You get miles for what you flew - so in your case it would be the new routing.

Are you after the burgers or the miles? Because if the latter, LAX-SLC-MSP-YYC is an allowed routing on many LAX-YYC fares... twice as many miles as LAX-SLC-YYC.

@javabytes Both, but I'm bringing the wifey with me so I don't know if she wants to come on a bona fide mileage run.

Although she WILL come for burgers: http://www.yelp.com/biz/crown-burgers-salt-lake-city-4
